Morning All, A not very convincing 1-0 home win against bottom of the table Bristol City, but a win nonetheless!!! Cheap shots from Eddie and Thom were (I felt) really digging the knife into Warnocks back. Things like 'this is an extremely poor Bristol side' or 'you can see why they are bottom of the table'. I don't remember this when Grayson was in charge!!! Have we really go downhill since then??? Kilkenny has said he has been shocked by dwindling crowds at Elland Road. When I was here we used to get 30,000 most weeks and now they say it was 18,000,â Kilkenny said. âI donât know whatâs gone on over the year-and-a-half that Iâve been away but itâs disappointing. âIt was great to play here in front of 30,000 but it can get daunting when results arenât going too well. âYou need to have big balls and take it. Thatâs what we did (during his time at Leeds) and thatâs why we succeeded. âIn my last season we finished two points off the play-offs and that was a massive disappointment. Kilkenny expressed gratitude to the Elland Road crowd for clapping him from the field following his substitution on 72 minutes. The 27-year-old has been critical in the past of Unitedâs struggle to retain key players and openly admitted his disappointment after failing to agree a new contract with Leeds in 2011. âHopefully they (the supporters) remember what I did for the club,â Kilkenny said. âPeople know I love this club. Warnock still believes two or three new signings will be coming in and he can`t tell us enough, just how hard Shaun Harvey is working. It seems like the media have almost given up on us as well, as less and less names are being linked with us as the weeks go by.This week we see four new names added to the list. Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle is reported to have turned down and offer from Leeds, with the club reported not to be able to match his wage demands. 32-year-old striker Arune Dindane is the latest player with some sort of link to Portsmouth to be linked with us.The experienced Ivory Coast international striker is a free agent after playing for Qatar side Al-Sailiya Sport Club for the past six months. Dindane spent a year at Portsmouth where he scored 10 goals in 24 appearances, including a Premier League hat trick against Wigan Athletic. 22-year-old defender Craig Dawson is reportedly on the radar of a number of clubs, including Leeds, who all want to take the England under 21 international on loan. Dawson was also part of the Great Britain squad in last summer`s Olympic Games and he twice came off the bench. He has made 15 appearances for West Brom since making his debut at the start of last season, including 3 appearances this season. Norwich City striker Steve Morison is reported to be interesting Leeds. With the Carrow Road club looking to bring in strikers, Morison looks like being surplus to requirements. The Welsh international has made 22 appearances for Norwich this season scoring just 2 goals. He joined Norwich in the summer of 2011 for almost £3 million after scoring 40 goals in 95 appearances for Millwall. Habib Habibou is still being reported as a target for Leeds.
Morning all from a snowy Cheshire. Not much to cheer us up again this Monday, after another poor performance, except this time we managed to scrape 3-points. I'm still not holding out much hope of new players, or new players of any quality, and its frustrating to see teams like Hull, Palace, bardiff, Bolton, Blackburn chase decent players. A club the size of ours being out bid for anyone. Killa's comments were a dig at Bates without a doubt, and although its early days for GFH, it seems that nobody is expecting much change to the old regime
Morning. A win is a win at the end of the day (as Eddie Gray would say!) but its clear were playing way below par. Dawson would be a good signing, however it seems that every defender we've had in the last couple of years (bar a few) have been woeful, despite coming in with a good reputation. Dindane could do a job for us. He would satisfy those who have been complaining about the lack of pace, but does he have the ability? Possibly. Wont hurt to give him a short term deal, but it's essential that we bring in a young talent to compensate.
Morning all. Played two worst teams in division past two weeks and lucky to have got three points. Any wonder media have given up and I've no problem with Eddie and Thom's comments. They're Leeds fans, see us play every game and can recognise two very poor teams when they see them. They're simply commenting on the ninety minutes they're watching on the pitch. Ten days left for gfh to show some clout. If there isn't a marked improvement in playing staff after that, they're not much better than bates. I wont be buying into the "they're keeping the cash for the summer" excuse and I doubt if too many more will either. As for the 18k, fans are voting with their feet and pockets and will take more than price reductions to woo fans back. Proper football, that's whats needed. At least next Sunday will serve as some sort of distraction
Morning All. One change I've noticed with Eddie's punditry is that he's now openly criticising the way we play, and specific performances too. Much more honest from him. Never did this with Grayson, as I recall. Is it just me that's picked up on this or am i making it up in my head because I desperately want to hear him do it? As for the crowds, it's so clear that the new board have not captured the hearts & minds of the support. I'm always banging on about their failure to communicate effectively. I still think this is the heart of it. And I think they're clever enough to know it. Which is a worry - are they not communicating because they've got nothing to communicate (like no money?). Deffo a worry. C'mon board, let's have an announcement re. your plans for the future.
Be nice if we could get him too, but can't see it happening. Two Egyptians on the way I think from Al Ahly in Cairo
You can only fool people for so long. Time is up at ER with the supporters and unless there is significant financial input towards the squad and future management, then the numbers will keep falling and the club's very future could be in doubt.
Correct and you can be sure Bates knew that when deciding to sell when he did. He ran out of wool to pull over peoples eyes and had no sheep left to shear either. Whatever he got for the club, he'd have got nothing twelve months later. Has anyone any idea how many season ticket holders we have at present? Hard to see too many signing up for the half season ones unless something major happens
Morning all. Saturday wasn't pretty, but a win is a win. Oh just for the record, Eddie Gray have added "football team or football match + you know as well in his irritating commentary. Class act when he played, but a lousy commentator. Next Sunday will be a useful distraction. Having watched them get a draw against ManUre & be very unlucky not to win, it could be damage limitation next Sunday. If the snow doesn't intervene, I can foresee a crowd of around 30k. But I can fully understand why league crowds are so low. Way too much hoofball & we're still not creating enough chances. Hoofball is okay if you then create lots of chances. But it certainly isn't if Becchio's on his own & gets beaten in the air by some 'airy'arsed 9ft 15 defender. On transfers, whoever we get, let's hope we play some better stuff. That should then help to swell the crowd somewhat. Top 2 is probably a stretch too far, but top 6 is still dooable. We just need to play some better footy.
Morning all - Another Monday and another week of rumours are about to start and hopes of signing a superstar. One day we will accept not much has changed and that we are an average team of average ability in an average league position...
Maybe they realise the quality of their work has to improve or they might be out of a job. They will probably be out of a job anyway.
Maybe its Kilkenny's one half decent game of the season YWBK. Of all the guys that have left us to supposedly better themselves, he was the one that few on here were too bothered about leaving. Even Bradders, who lacked a few supporters on here, had a better level of support when he left.
Afternoon monkeys - I see the WYP are preventing you from opening the South Lower v Spurs - how much is winning that court case going to cost you in the long run?
Afternoon TC. Anyone know why? How many fans would the upper & lower tiers hold? Really can't see why WYP want to stick their ore in? In all honesty, if Bale or Lennon get at our defence in the same way they got at ManUre's yesterday, they could declare their score at halftime. Hopefully Warnock will keep the same back 4 so that they can then caompare themselves against a class act team & learn from the experience, which will benefit them in the longer term.
I also watched the same Kilkenny absolutely crap himself every time a Leeds player came in to tackle him, and he maintained his consistency of not making a single tackle during the game. Some things never change!
