Morning Everyone, Firstly, a big hello to Jen the Saint, I spoke to her yesterday, and she would like to send all the Leeds lads her undivided LOVVVEEEEEE.... Lust have come out and urged the club to issue an up to date statement with the latest news on the proposed takeover. We can live in hope can't we? Yesterdays statement from Bates, he did confirm that he had signed a confidentiality clause meaning he cannot discuss the matter, thoughts??? Aidy White is off to Derby (probably) for a fee of around £500,000. Thoughts? Who should we spend that money on? Jamaican international Adrian 'Aidy' Mariappa has been snapped up by English Premier League new boys Reading for a reported £2.5 million (J$347 million), while Rudolph Austin is on the verge of joining Leeds United. Warnock recently told the YEP that Austin is as good in central midfield that he is at centre back... The Peltier rumours have gone quiet, can't see that one happening now... Just noticed that both today and yesterdays Morning threads were sent at 8.23am, spooky or what... What spooky coincidences / deja vu moments have you had?
Morning all Wish we wasnt signing White but I dont really rate him on the right wing at the moment, so maybe a short term gain there but still pissed off with letting young talent go. Need this takeover to be complete the next couple of days, I got loads of work to get done! Taking the kids to a stunt show tonight, so hoping for some good weather. Woke up this morning just before my alarm clock & managed to disable it just before it went off. A real James Bond moment to start the day
Bates said he has signed a confidentiality agreement if thats what he says it must be true then DD is taking far too long LUST are hitting the panic button Fans think takeover is imminent what do you really think ? GOOD MORNING BY THE WAY
Morning Mighty BIG confirmed its on and it will happen as people have been reading to much into it. you know how long it takes tieing up loose ends when buying a house, imagine what its like wading through all our books that have been set up to hide money IMO. You shake Ken Bates hands you make sure you still got your watch on pal! Got to trust the LUST
Morning all - My patience wore thin on it all a while back now, I can't believe the amount of work I have allowed to slip looking for updates and watching the news sources, why do we let it get to us like this? I would be gob smacked if we don't announce some signings today, I can't believe the Lonergan money will remain unspent into next week and with the first pre-season game tomorrow? I don't think it will be anything to get excited about, probably Varney and Norris possibly Varney and Halford? http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/squad/first-team.aspx they have less of a squad than us!! I can't see us announcing the signing of Austin today or tomorrow, after a fee is agreed he will need a medical and then discuss terms. Maybe news that a fee has been agreed would go down well...
Longford Town . . . . . 1 Millwall . . . . . 4 A couple of first half goals from Shaun Batt set Millwall on their way to a comfortable victory over Longford Town in a friendly at Flancare Park on Wednesday night. Town manager Tony Cousins availed of the opportunity to utilise the members of his squad and also keep an eye over a few trialists. Millwall started the game the better and Batt had a chance in the 13th minute but his shot was deflected out for a corner. The visitors broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute after Longford goalkeeper Paul Hunt came out of the goals and completely fluffed his clearance and Batt got on the ball to score into an empty net. 12 minutes later and the visitors doubled their advantage with Batt grabbing his second goal. Andy Keogh got in a cross with Chris Taylor getting a slight touch and the ball broke to Batt who fired home from close range. After being totally outplayed in the first half, the Town had their first effort two minutes from the break but Tony Griffiths shot from about 25 yards out didn’t trouble Millwall keeper Maik Taylor. One minute later and Gary Shaw should have done better but he directed his header wide. Five minutes into the second half Andy Keogh forced a save out of Longford keeper Hunt as Millwall went in search of more goals. Ten minutes later Hunt saved from Therry Racon and against the run of play the Town pulled a goal back in the 68th minute through Darragh Reynor. Millwall got their third goal 10 minutes from time when Hunt saved from Jake Goodman but the loose ball was finished to the net by Aiden O’Brien. Three minutes later John Marquis made it 4-1 and the game ended in a comfortable win for the Londoners on their second visit to Longford. Morning Bucks I see a few rumours that Brown is going to put pen to paper on a one year deal. I wouldn't have been bothered if he had left but extra cover for another year and not being tied in with anything lengthy isn't bad I guess. Also see that Mikka scored on his debut for his new club yesterday (penalty).
I believe Warnock said the Austin deal was looking likely to be done early next week if possible but could run into late next week.. I dunno
Great news about Brown. Once fit he played like he was ten years younger. Very happy if he gives us another year, could be the perfect cover for Austin or if we are feeling really nasty put em both in the midfield Heard about Mikka scoring, isnt he playing in some real micky mouse league now though? Good luck to the fella, complete panic buy from Grayson and didnt really get a look in. To be honest I couldnt even tell you his attributes as a player!
As long as we get him There season over there is almost over so not sure how much he will figure in pre season anyway. Probably could do with a bit of a rest & is already match fit so maybe a few games just to bond with the new team?
Hasn't he played just 11 games this season and isn't it a 22 game season or something silly like that? If so I would imagine he would need to get his fitness up a little so 11 games in he might be just about right and ready to join. Wonder if he will fade with a 40 game season??
Don't think White's going to Derby. For one I'm pretty sure we can't accept a fee for him because he's out of contract so it would be decided by tribunal. Also while this tabloid story appeared on the same day Colin was giving an interview saying he thinks he might stay and that White is looking to stay. He's nothing special now, but if we let him go we'd just be losing Howson or Snoddy 2/3 years earlier.
We as clubs have been joined at the hip for the past 5 years, both lost in the playoff together, both got promoted together, last season finished mid table together, It will be quite sad of your takeover doesnt happen and we go up this year without you To think after all this time we will finish up 2 leagues apart sad really
Two leagues apart, na pal, I think you will just survive this season !! so when we go up if my maths are correct you will only be one league below us so dont worry pal, Im sure we will be able to loan you a few players as well, well once they are old enough that is !!!
Are you getting excited at this result. I live twenty minutes from Flancare Park. Longford are 2nd division in League of Ireland and are awful. Some spot to play your preseason friendlies. Must listen to news today and see how many local shops were wrecked by your traveling hoards
