Morning Troops Steve Bruce says tonight's Yorkshire derby with Leeds United will provide the "acid test" of Hull City's promotion ambitions this term. Hull have 10 points from five games for City and back-to-back wins over Bolton and Millwall will certainly give the tigers momentum. Lets not forget however Hull have not beaten Leeds since 2006, long may that continue... The game is see a return of Alex Bruce. It will be interesting to see how he plays. I quite liked him when he was with us, and feel he was not given a fair chance... We will have to wait and see Warnock has come out and claimed that he does not believe in loan signings Now he tells us... Well Colin, you better start believing son, we bloody need some...
Morning all. Cant say I blame Warnock for not believing in loanees. They never work. How good realistically can a midfielder, who hasn't played for two years for Stoke actually be. Or, if rumours are correct, a striker that cant get into the Reading team. What the hell is the story with Somma. If he'd been hit by a train, he'd be back from injury sooner than this. On a more positive note, Beckford will ride onto the pitch tonight before kick off on a camel and Bates will sign the papers. Note to myself, get your medication checked today
Morning Eire, Beckford on a camel, and Bates signing the takeover papers. Now you're being silly, Bates will never sign the papers
Hi guys, im not too optimistic about tonight. These guys are on a roll! The tigers are playing 3 5 2 which as a formation sees at least 4 midfielders running from deep and overwhelming the opposing defense. Jay is on form and Aluko is a handful, Koren is a classy operator and Steven Quinn is on fire and thats leaving out a couple of others. The formation allows for a quick transition from defense to attack, and with the pace in their team it will be a danger we must guard against. The bulk of their play in this formation will hinge on their DM`s who will have to hold up play and act as the service room of the team, putting pressure on these 2 is a must, take these 2 out the game and the 3 at the back will be shredded ....oh wait you need pacy strikers with good movement to do this......! As there will be alot of offensive players making runs it will be imperative that the back 4 stay rigid and 1 of the covering midfielders sitting tightly in front of them, if they are pulled from position then the spaces will just open up. Aidan White seems to struggle when up against faster or tricky wingers so i would start Drury. Speaking of White he could flourish in this game because the space on the wings in advanced positions is very exploitable! Byram on the other side could also have joy tonight, he has youthful energy has decent technique. If we had Roscoe, and a Varney who is willing to turn up i would say we could hurt that defense but neither are available! Fingers crossed for this 1. s
Varney came on as a sub after 5 mins, and got subbed off before the end. Things don't look goof for him
I wouldnt read into that too much. He played nearly the whole game. If he was subbed after 20 odd minutes I would be worried but he could have well been blowing by then. Morning all BTW Tough test tonight and I can see them turning us over. Anyone who's going tonight give Bates HELL.
