Good Morning and welcome to the dual Morning / pre season match thread v Burton Albion.

But first, on this day in history :-

    2007
Former loan goalkeeper Casper Ankergren becomes Leeds first signing of the summer. Ankergren made 14 appearances on loan the previous season. With Leeds now having their Football League share, Dennis Wise continues to add to his squad. Matt Heath, Leon Constantine and Curtis Weston all signed two-year deals with the club.

    2009
Winger Robert Snodgrass signs a new improved four-year deal at Elland Road after impressing in his first season with the club.

    2011
Leeds are hoping to complete the signing of trialist Alexandre Mendy. The tricky French winger spent much of pre-season with Leeds and played in the friendlies against Rochdale, Sheffield Wednesday, Sandefjord and Newcastle.

And now back to the latest news....

Nicky Maynard has leapfrogged Mickael-Smith in Colins wish list -PHEW !!! The Sun reports that a swap deal was set to be done with the Seagulls involving Mickael-Smith and McCormack, but McCormack did not want to leave.... Think he is going to stay now...

So Folks Burton Albion tonight. Im going for a 4-0, any advances on that. What team is going to play?

    For me, its :-

    Kenny
    Peltier
    White
    Pearce
    Lees
    Varney
    Rogers (please)
    Green
    Austin
    Becchio
    McCormack

    Morning Elland,
Maynard would be good but i hope we get some funds soon for a winger as well. Hoping Rogers can step up this season though and not turn out like Nunez.

Morning - I am hoping for a winger, if Rogers doesn't play does that mean it is between a new winger, Varney and White hence why NW doesn't see Rogers as part of his plans??

Nah, don't want maynard to be honest. Don't think too much of him and think there's better out there. We surely NEED a winger

Rogers looked a threat in his 15 mins on the pitch last season so hopeful he will get a few games in this year.

Think he may need to drop his website and focus more on football to get in Colins good books.

Morning all, so with the season starting on Saturday, just where did the summer & the close season go? I blinked & I clearly missed it.

On signings, I'd actually like us to settle down with what we've got save a new forward. Give Rodgers a chance. Lees & Pearce as the new CB pairing. Peltier & Drury as the R & LB respectively. Austin & Brown (who's just signed an extension) as the holding midfield. Perm any 2 from lots as wide & other midfielders, which leaves Becchion & McC. up top. Starting to shape up.

If Austin & Brown hit their straps & solidify the central midfield, we could score an absolute hatful tonight. Potential is for goals to come from all over the place, even if we haven't got a definite creative midfielder.

If you lot haven't pinched them all by Friday, I hope to get to the Peterborough game. Any plans for 606 meet up?

    Morning Thombob,

Agrred, its a big ask, and Rogers needs time to adjust to the English game. He's been unlucky with injuries

I see White as a good wing back, though he needs to work on his close ball control. Morning btw

    winger winger winger winger BATMAN!

unless McCormack is going to be deployed out there? We need a quality winger as we are not short up front. Heres a few options- Becchio/Rosco/Somma/Varney/Poleon

Lets not forget we wont always go 442 either <ok>

    Morning all :)

We need a winger well before we need a forward, but to be perfectly honest one more player isn't enough whoever it is.

If he wasn't good enough surely Warnock would have sent him packing?

Still seeing a lot of pessimism around, but I'm feeling fairly optimistic. From the signings so far I don't think any of them will let us down. I see our most solid defence and midfield in years, which is half the battle as we should not concede anywhere near the amount of goals we've done the last 3 seasons. Still think we need a talisman to either create or score plenty. We may however already have it and don't know it yet. Ross could match last seasons tally, Becchio could be a 20-goal striker, Austin could become a cult hero. Whatever happens we will do better than last season, and in January we could be adding someone to enable us to go for promotion, as long as this protracted take over happens. <ok>

Remember folks that as soon as Bates has nobbed off we will have a huge feel good factor in the club, and on the terraces again.
