Alrite Folks,

Have we finally broken the midweek hoodoo, after a comprehensive 1-0 win against high flying Leicester. Reports claim that Leicesters goal scoring chances were few and far between and rarely threatened Kennys goal.

17,700 fans watched this game. What are your thoughts on ther attendance? I understand its a long way off to whewre we need to be, but how appealing would it be to a fan to go to a cold drenched Elland Road for a late game (with work the next day) paying on average £30 per ticket against a team who had beaten us at ER on the last 4 occassions? Now that the takeover has happened, did we expect fans to come flocking back or is it going to be a gradual process?

Warnock has hailed his side's victory over Leicester City as a fitting tribute to Gary Speed on the anniversary of the Welshman's death.

"Gary would have loved that, us getting stuck in. I thought it was fitting," said Warnock. "It was a Gary Speed game tonight, roll your sleeves up and not shirking a tackle.

For those of you that went to the match, or even listen along to the radio, who was your man of the match, and what scores would you give the lads out of 10?

Morning Elland. Ive pointed out elsewhere, but in many peoples eyes the takeover hasnt happened yet. It will happen after Chelsea game if gfh pass whatever football league fit and proper ****e and providing they come up with balance of money. I've no doubt this all will happen. Many though are still skeptical, Bates still writing program notes and doing LUTV interviews, attacking manager now. Fans have suffered a long time under him and some will wait to see what influence, if any, he will have. Still think it will be a gradual process over a few seasons, building the attendances back up. Personally, I'd prefer to see 15k at every game and we win than 30k watching drubbings

Morning guys <ok> Chuffed to bits with the last 2 games and 6-points, because last week many of us would have hoped to scrape 2-points out of those games. Well done NW as the play is a lot better with a bit of flair for a change. The 2 new additions have changed things and even Pelts had a good game.

As for the Bates thing and attendances, well 2 points of view. 1) many of us are disillusioned because we have never fulfilled what the fans expected and were promised. Bates charged the earth for garbage football without us seeing anything that suggested we had a chance of promotion. Bates sold the best players and didn't replace them. He promised 8-years ago that if we wanted prem football we had to pay prem prices, well that's now backfired because we lost a whole generation of kids and fans who don't believe anymore. I think its too early to judge the new ownership as we need to see a bit of ambition from them, and January will be the next hurdle. 2) The economy is biting everywhere and in all walks of life, so people are watching their money, especially with Xmas around the corner. People worrying about their jobs and paying their bills etc.

If we carry on getting results and the fans see money splashed out in January, you will see a lot more fans coming back, as well as fans who haven't been for a few seasons, who could be called plastics by some, but they'll come because they want to see a winning team going for promotion. GFH must know that money spent on the team, will see bums on seats, which means more revenue. We have a 40,000 stadium which has hardly been filled for years thanks to the policy of Bates. Lets hope ambition is seen by the population of Leeds and the ground will be filled to capacity again. Yes plenty of fans won't be able to afford it due to the economy, but there are plenty of prawn sandwich fans who'll jump on the bandwagon of a successful team.

Kenny 7 had nothing to do so can't give him more
Byram 8 Just gets better and better very composed on the ball
Lees 7 Solid in the air but struggled once Futacs came on
Tate 7 Calm and composed dictated everything along the back telling everyone where to stand captain material
Peltier 8 by far his best game for us, got stuck in quick and dealt with everything
Thomas 8 quick skillfull caused lots of problems, shame he had to go off
Tonge 7 did everything he had to got stuck in worked very hard
Norris 9 absolutely class ran solidly broke up there midfield and got forward when needed
Green 7 decent game him and Norris CM would be good, worked hard at defensive not much going forward
Diouf 7 not one of his better games but still gets a 7 solid and professional as per usual
Becchio 8.5 his best game for Leeds United in a long long time, one a lot battled with Morgan very well and caused them problems.

Warnock 8 could tell he worked on certain things this week got them closing down quickly and working for each other still don't rate his substitutions

Kasper Schmeichel 1 - Teddy n Pram spring to mind, crosses come in he stayed rooted to the floor no different to when he was at Leeds except hes lost about 3 stone, made simple saves look good and booted ball as far as he could.

TBH, he looked tired approaching half time, so I reckon he was coming off at some point anyway.

Regarding Becchio's improved performance, it seems to suggest something I've thought for a while, which is that he doesn't quite fit the big target man mould many try to put him into. He's lethal in the air when it comes to scoring, but you can't just hit long balls up to him and expect him to knock it down to a Leeds player. At the same time, while he's not the most skilful himself, he does more for the team when we play on the ground, making a nuisance of himself, running the channels and getting on to second balls.

With Norris and Green both playing well I think we're starting to look pretty good in central midfield. With Austin (when he's back), Norris, Green and Tonge I think all we're lacking is a play maker in the mould of Clayton or Howson. Maybe we should make another move for Lewis McGugan in January?

Norris is certainly coming into his own. I think whenever Green has played, we have done well....

By my reckoning our crowd attendance last night was lower than at Brighton, Charlton, Derby, Middlesbrough, Wednesday and Wolves. That should worry us.

I’m not criticising anyone who didn’t go last night. Times are hard and our ticket prices are stupidly high. And up until recently our standard of football has been poor. But what would you like the new owners to do to encourage people back to Elland Road?

Personally I would have a couple of ‘fan day’ home games where adult tickets are £10 and kids get in for £1. Those with season tickets could receive a £15 voucher to go towards a future ticket or next year’s season ticket.

Or we could introduce a family ticket for 2 adults, 2 kids for, say, £30.

Or an offer where you get a half-price ticket for your mate if you buy a full price one.

Afternoon all - I still don't believe we can win promotion this season, it would be great but I am keeping my feet on the ground, two home wins doesn't prove we are good enough. For me it is about building on what we have, adding a couple of new and exciting signings come January and in close season adding even more quality to the squad. I wouldn't mind seeing Warnock replaced at the end of this campaign, a new manager that wants an exciting footballing team, who brings in a couple of WOW signings in close season, that will put bums on seats and push season ticket sales up.

I don't thnk the takeover will lead to higher crowds just because it has happened. Nor will one-off reductions and promotions.

The reason so many have disappeared is because prices are so high and people can't afford them. Bates was the one that did this, so it became a Bates Out issue. But until the season ticket prices come down by 20% and a requisite reduction in match day prices, the new owners will just be seen as the same as Bates and people will remain away.

Plus those that have stopped going to games have found that they do other things on match days, like looking after the kids they don't see all week, and that is fun.

But the key to crowd size is the number of season ticket holders. If they offer to reduce ST prices by 20% as long as we get at least 16000, that will guarantee average attendances of between 26000 and 28000, providing much more income than now, a better atmosphere, happier fans, and fans who will spend like Billy-oh in the club shop and at the game.

Half-season reduced ST prices with requisite "money off" for current ST holders who renew next year would also sell like hot cakes this year - brilliant Xmas pressie.

The new owners just need to be creative and by backing the fans, the fans will back them.

And there you have it ladies and gents.

Elmo not going was as i suggested in August nothing to do with his phoney Bates out bollocks. He is a plastic and therfore what he says is irrelevent. Jog on by elmo, no one is intersted in the moans of an ex supporter.
