It just feels such a slim chance.

Half time. Still in with a chance but you do need someone who can put the ball away. The attack is lacking potency. To be fair, Harrold is having quite a good game. Torquay still look the more dangerous on attack. A Shrews goal will set the game alight. Accrington having no luck against Stevenage.

Still 8 mins to go but I've seen nothing to think that Shrews will get one goal let alone 3. Sorry folks but better luck next year.

until our manager can invest in 2 good men upfront town will remain the nearly men of L2. matt harrold tried very hard tonight but was referred to by radio devon sa a carthorse. town will never win anything with that ruddy awful lenny the lion badge. change the badge and let us hope the redhead is on his way, anywhere

I knew from about 20mins in that it would finish scoreless- we've unfortunately got the cutting edge of a melon. I'm pretty sure it's the midfield that needs fixing too. Wroe tried very hard which was good, but still couldn't pick a telling pass and gave it away often.Davies got stuck in as well but got nothing to show for his efforts. Sky Sports summed it up when they said we "huffed and puffed"
A new strikerforce wouldn't go amiss. Scott McGleish + Clayton Donaldson, yes please.

Or Adebayo Akinfenwa? They're all free :emoticon-0104-surpr

Congratulations to Torquay who thoroughly deserved their place in the final. It was not them who "swindled us out of our rightful inheritance".

There needs to be drastic surgery to the team over next season. Sadler will not stay as we have not gained promotion. The midfield is barely an improvement over Disley and McIntyre. We need someone who can pass the ball more than five yards (even Leslie looked better last night for a short time). Sad to say that a number of GT's signings are not working out up front. No one there to "sniff out the chances". Had we been promoted we might have been able to attract the like of Donaldson or McDonald.

I thought Harrold played quite well actually. He even chased and won balls off players (Torquay ones) and passed the ball well. But he was never a danger at any point and I didn't see him have a single shot at goal. Sadly, I can't see much of a future for him anywhere. He's not a defender, he's not a mid fielder and he can't score goals. A bit of an unfortunate set of attributes for a footballer. But I give him his due; he was put on the pitch and he tried.

He was cracking at the start of the season, he played up front, held the ball well and provided good flick-ons for others. On the negative side he fouls others too much by pulling shirts etc and needs to charge at goal / shoot more often.

Saying that, a lot of our central players seemed to forget that they can shoot at goal too, and just passed it left or right in the hope that a winger could cross it in for Harrold or A.Nother to head it in goal.

Second half v Oxford - 3 assists for Harrold. How? Support - wingers coming inside, midfielders making runs into the box. Simple but effective.

Against Torquay - no such support, looked isolated and ineffective. As would most target men.

<ok> its been like that for a few seasons. No supply = no strike opportunities. Holt got goals by walking back into midfield and collecting the ball! I hope that top of the list is a decent midfielder.
A list of transfer listed players was put on shrewschat and a couple mentioned were Ashley Grimes and Ritchie Jones who look great signings.
