On a day when Wales football is probably at it's highest peak for the best part of 50 years, it's sad to see Newport County languishing at the foot of League 2. Turned over 3-0 at home by York yesterday and with financial difficulties off the pitch it's a tough time for the Ambers. It's a mirror image of the Swans from over a decade ago, with a fans takeover in the pipeline. Good luck to everyone at Newport and let's hope the Club and supporters can turn it around
I was thinking earlier today of posting something similar, and was wondering if we could help by loaning players to help them creep away from the foot of the table?
They do not look good with just 1 point at the bottom of the table, looks like they need new blood in the squad............
Or since losing 15 players and Scadding who bank rolled the Club for a couple of million pounds. Butcher is trying to maintain League two status with no money , good luck , with 6 games gone and one point it's going to be tough but if enough local support can back the Trust then maybe they have a chance . I'm not sure what the link is with Scottish football but we seem to favour loaning players out up there rather than locally and possibly at a lower standard of football.
Butcher is a poor manager and just thought Newport were in trouble when they signed him, Yes they are struggling a bit financially but can be no worse off than a lot of clubs in the division. They needed to employ someone who knew that league and not what appears to have been a bit of a name in Butcher.
Not sure why he was picked especially if they were after a "name" in the football world as he hasn't had a great deal of success in the managerial sense . .The sale of Regan Poole is a bit of a windfall but how much debt are they in ? .He got rid of 11 players on his appointment so he must have strong ideas what he can and cannot do within the constraints of the squad and money available. I hope they survive as it can only improve Welsh football but they have always been a small Club in terms of support ,with Cardiff such a short drive away that can't have helped either,
