Some good football from both sides today, either team had their spells and could have won and either team would have deserved it. We had our luck in that game with Defoe's and Walker's wayward passes. You have plenty of quality to continue to win games and finish above Chelsea, maybe even keep up with City. Best of luck to the rest of the season, you deserve it. <ok>

    Cheers, Zingy.
Hope we recover from this quickly, as we've still got a tough run in the next few games, but it'd be nice to see you finish above Arsenal.
    Not us though, obviously! <laugh>

I'll echo the comments of Zingy here.

    -

Thought it was a good game but most of the goals were down to some sort of defensive error. Made for a good game though! Nice to beat yourselves as we haven't done it too often in recent seasons.

Thought that Vertonghen was very good. Clearly a goalscoring presence and looks composed at the back. Very good signing there. Belgium are producing some very good players at the moment!

Still think you'll finish in the top 4 (Gap seems pretty large at the moment...) and you seem to be doing well in the Europa League.

Good luck for the rest of the season!

    <cheers>

    cheers lads.

I actually thought as a team we were poor today, but that doesn't take anything away from you guys. It was a solid, tactical performance which deserved the 3 points, IMO. Well played.

    If only we had Suarez....

Cheers Zingy. We have been on a great run we were always going to lose sometime. I'm glad it was to you rather than the Gooners! If we can get 3 points the next match things will look a whole lot better. Good luck for the rest of the season.

It was a shame Lennon wasn't fit, it would have been an even better game and wouldn't have been so frustrating for us. It was just disappointing to not see us set up the best we could have, despite our absentees. We shot ourselves in the foot, that was the most frustrating part about today, for me.

Verthonghen and Dembele are both excellent players, however I must admit I dont think I have ever seen a player protected by the Ref as much as Bale, he seems to get fouls if you fart in his general direction.Nice to see us win a game we may not have on the balance of play deserved to, for once, its usually the other way around

IMO best team Ive seen at Anfield this season

Missed the game as I was 6 miles up in the sky. However, it sounds like an open game that could have gone either way. Disconcerting to hear that we're back to shooting ourselves in the foot again - I was hoping those "bottle job" days were over.

Cheers to all the Liverpool lads who have made sensible comments. Sounds like Rodgers may be slowly getting you back up there.

    Fair play,

We have to put up with your mates, the ****** bridage, BBF Astronumpty & a few others who have zero wit and spout drivel and come on here insulting everyone and mods, so at least on the flip side we get some mousers that aren't afraid to praise the opposition without feeling they are "giving in".

As for our team, when 2-1, we should have made it 3-1, thats when the game for me was lost, as yes our mistakes allowed you to score twice, yet we put ourselves under pressure and the set-up overall wasn't the right balance.

Liverpool benefit from a more balanced formation, you seem to have less disruption within your team and considering the expectations, Rodgers is actually doing a good job.

Testing times ahead for us, as we have to prove we have the bottle to bounce back from this defeat...although thats 1 defeat in 13 league games, not bad for a "one man team".

Bale does not get protected by refs

    Quite the opposite

They book him for being on the receiving end of rugby tackles

A good game with good chances at both ends, if Siggy's effort that hit the post goes in for 3-1 then who knows, having said that I was worried we'd go 2-0 down for a bit, so it shows both teams had their moments, and to be fair could have gone either way. Quite a few of our games have been like this, and its gone our way in most, so no gripes from me when one doesn't. I was surprised how much we missed Lennon, and how narrow it made us, but I'm not going down the excuse route. Liverpool are only the 3rd team to put 3 past us all season, so fair play to that, the others being the Goons and the Chavs. Us 3rd and you lot 4th would be ideal, the goons n chavs scrapping for C5th place!, now that would be funny!

    <cheers>

It was the sort of game a home crowd absolutely loves. It was very exciting, and I thought the crowd pushed you into the winner's circle. You also looked much better than earlier this year, worked hard and took your chances much better than we did, so I can't complain about the result.

Thanks for the kind words. I never expected us to win but hoped we would, I'm struggling to see past how frustrating it is that we went 2-1 up only to blow it and that's because of how huge 3 points would've been. We could have put 10 points between us and Arsenal in 5th and in turn giving us a great opportunity to keep 7-10 points ahead of them up until they get their game in hand against Everton. Our loss gives Arsenal the boost they need, and they will need it after Bayern finish the job this week.

I actually thought Tottenham were slightly unlucky yesterday. They edged the game in possession and shots, but, much like us this season, were let down by individual errors. I suppose we deserve a little bit of fortune in that regard.

However, you can see Tottenham are a top team. Probably, the Arsenal visit aside (although we were more terrible than them good), our toughest home game this season even though the result suggests otherwise. United and City were far easier to play against when they came.

I thought Dembele in particular looked at it again. He had a bit of a quiet spell and has come back the past few games.

I can't see you guys finishing below 4th this season. Arsenal won't close that gap again. In fact, you're likely to get 3rd given the inconsistency of Chelsea.

Was a good game of football, I enjoyed it, just a shame about the result, was my second time at Anfield (record is P2, W1, L1) and I went up for the weekend with my cousin - great night out :D.

Thought we probably edged it in terms of play but two awful mistakes cost us dearly. Was surprised you guys took Coutinho off when you did, thought he was your most lively player and was giving Walker all sorts of trouble.

Dembele for me was MOTM, he was back to his best and gliding past players with ease and laying off passes. Vertonghen also was good.

Ironically, the two who made the mistakes for us were also (in my opinion) the two poorest on the pitch - Walker and Defoe, so it pretty muched summed up there afternoon by ****ing up.

I wouldn't say Bale gets protected by refs though to be honest, he's picked up enough yellows for diving to clarify that in my opinion - but rightly so - I hate diving whether it be a Spurs or opposition player. I think there were soft fouls given to both teams on Sunday.

Anyway, congrats on the win, had great banter with cabbies when I was in Liverpool and my Uncle's a 'Pool fan too so I have a bit of mutual respect towards you guys, good luck for the season <ok>
