Bournemouth's chief scout Des Taylor is set to leave the club to join Bristol City, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Taylor has played an instrumental role in Bournemouth's meteoric rise up the leagues to the top flight in recent years, helping the club identify a number of key signings in the process.

Taylor, who has had two spells at Bournemouth, is a close ally of Cherries boss Eddie Howe having worked with him during his time in charge of Bournemouth and Burnley.

Bristol City are restructuring their recruitment set-up at Ashton Gate after director of football Keith Burt left the club last month

Burt, who previously spent seven years as Nottingham Forest's head of recruitment, arrived at Ashton Gate in 2013 during Sean O'Driscoll's tenure as head coach and played a leading role in the acquisitions of several players as the club won promotion to the Championship last season.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson is keen to implement his own plans at Ashton Gate for next season after taking over from Steve Cotterill in February.

Johnson has guided Bristol City to the verge of safety in the Championship and the club are expected to be busy in this summer's transfer window to reshape the squad.

    Will Bournemouth miss Taylor?
