I'm not a huge gambler but do like a little flutter on most QPR games. Wanted to know if anyone has laid any interesting bets for the World Cup. For me, going to put down England to score and concede in every group game. Don't know odds. And Belgium to make Semi - finals. Any others? Oh, and at least one own goal from an England player ;-)
Honduras at 11/10 with bet365 at -1 in the hcp card betting against France looks like free money to me.
I established a Bet365 account back in our 2010-11 season to catch the live streaming of our Championship matches and our Wembley final - after O'Neil was sent off I wagered $5 on the R's to win the match @ 14/1, so now have a little bit of play money in my account which I believe I have to make the occasional wager to keep it active. For that France v Honduras match I'm looking at the current odds on Bet365 for your Handicap wager. Previously I have only ever placed small win or draw wagers, so I'm just trying to understand this one. France (-1) 20/21 Tie (Honduras +1) 21/10 Honduras (+1) 12/5 Is this the correct explanation of this bet? I see there are also Asian Handicaps (Bothroyd & Anton????), but this sounds like a Single:- Single Handicap A single Handicap occurs when there is a perceived difference in abilities between Team X and Team Y. The perceived superior team will be given an appropriate goal Handicap to level the playing field for betting purposes i.e. -0.5 goal, -1 goal, -1.5 goals etc. For example, if you bet on Team X with a Handicap of -1 goal, they must win by more than one goal to cover their Handicap and win you your bet. If they only win by a goal, the result with the Handicap applied is a draw for betting purposes, so your bet is refunded. If Team Y draw or win, you will lose your bet on Team X. http://www.pinnaclesports.com/online-betting-articles/09-2012/soccer-handicap-betting.aspx So if you go with France (-1) to win @ 20/21 if say France win 3-1 you win wager (Honduras credited a goal), and if France only win 2-1 you still qualify for the draw wager @ 21/10 (Honduras credited a goal) If you wager on Honduras (+1) to win @ 12/5 if score ended 0-0 you would win wager (Honduras credited a goal), and if France only won 1-0, you would win the draw wager @ 21/10 (Honduras credited a goal).
Yes your understanding is correct. I often bet on the handicaps if you think someone will win handsomely. Liverpool at minus one or two was often a good bet last season. Yorkshire was referring to the card index though i.e he believes Honduras are dirtier than the odds would suggest. I agree with him.
Thanks for the confirmation CCJ - I'm probably Bet365's worst customer as I only make an occasional wager. I really just have the account for the live streaming of matches, but also by the necessity of changing odds, unlike the BBC, you "see" goals immediately. You can also follow non streamed matches using the so called "wave", so they must have someone at every game keying in that stuff in real time.
Not off to a very good start with that wager as Patrice Evra gets the first yellow card for France! End of 1st half - so far, three yellow cards for France, two yellows for Honduras (both Palacios), leading to a red, so in the card count, how many is that for Honduras?
Fortunately I've bet on total cards but how on earth Honduras have not had half a dozen booked is beyond me.
Sorry Kilburn just seen your question. Usually a yellow is ten points and a red is 25. Two yellows that lead to a red is 35 i.e. 10 + 25. So it would be 30 for France and 35 Honduras
It worked out, so as Yorkshire said, it was "free" money. I also selected France to win, even if spotting Honduras 1 or 2 goals. Ask you can see this is just pin money - I lost a few bucks on England so it all balanced out. Honduras (-1.0) @ 11/10 $2.00 Single 06/14/2014 23:46:35 2.00 4.20 France (-2.0) @ 11/4 $1.00 Single 06/14/2014 14:24:44 1.00 3.75 France (-1.0) @ 20/21 $2.00 Single 06/14/2014 14:24:44 2.00 3.91
I fancied the Swiss when they went behind and got 11-2 for them to win. Together with the card index for France Honduras its been a decent day. I only bet small as well though mate.
My 'problem' is that I would never go to a betting shop and stake £300 on one match, but when you are just typing numbers in an online account, it just doesn't seem as difficult. I'm up so far this WC so can't complain I guess
So how about Bosnia & H a goal down to turn things around? 22/1 for the win, 15/2 for a draw on Bet365 Argentina 1/10 for the win Seems like anything can happen so far at this WC.
There has been quite a few teams come back from one nil down already this tournament so might be worth a small punt
