That article sums up just how exciting the next few years will be as a Saints fan as long as we stay up (and I'm confident we will). Even if we get relegated the long term future of the club will still be bright, just not quite as bright had we stayed up.
That's a good read, and it contrasts nicely with the Southampton v Man City preview on the BBC site which offers this gem:
Good article...and accurate apart from the cross from Ramirez being put away by Spiderman...pretty sure it was from JRod. MP praised Adkins for how the team were playing and for the level of fitness, so his changes are more in the way he puts it into action. I like the fact that the author has recognised that there wasn't a huge amount wrong with Southampton...so many said we were still defensively poor, ignoring the fact that we were often a place or two higher because of GD and 6 goals against were in one match. Also there wasn't a huge outcry at Poch's first game, so we don't have to apologise. After getting over the shock (after clever timing of the announcement by NC), we were prepared to give Nicola the benefit of the doubt and we aren't daft enough to boo a new manager. Seeing 3 good performances has convinced us that the future could be exciting....we just want wins...if not Man City, then Newcastle and QPR.
See, I'm impressed with MP, I think the last three games have been very positive (on the performance side at least), but another good showing & missing out on three points really isn't going to brighten my mood & alleviate my anxiety. Bad performance, crap subs & a win please.
I knew the goal was Spider...I was questioning the fact that the author said it was crossed by Ramirez rather than JRod. Could never forget a Spider goal.
Ahhhhh yes, I was going to say, not like you to miss a spider-moment! You're quite right though, the cross was J-Rod, not Gaston. My apologies.
Good article, but definitely J-Rod providing the cross-pass, after he himself sprinted 60-70 yards himself, from a short feed from Ward-Prowse. Schneiderlin must have sprinted at least as far. Certainly more than 50. Bit of an excuse to have a look at it again.
Couple more interesting articles in grown-up newspapers this evening. Saint or sinner, Nicola Cortese drives Southampton on He divides opinion but there can be little doubt that chairman’s ruthless approach has been successful, writes Glenn Moore http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...la-cortese-drives-southampton-on-8488069.html Manchester City face tough task as Mauricio Pochettino has Southampton players marching to his tune You cannot say it has been a bad start for Southampton’s new manager, Mauricio Pochettino. Two draws, against Everton and Wigan Athletic, flank an impressive performance in narrowly losing at Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson, in fact, went so far as to say that in the second half the visitors were “the best team we’ve seen here this season”. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...Southampton-players-marching-to-his-tune.html (make sure you read the first one at least, it is great)
