...on how the art of 'proper' defending is slowly being lost. Maybe Neil Adams should consult him, because with Whittaker constantly bombing forward and Redmond not covering, A RB being played out of position as a CB, a complete howler from Olsson for Bolton's goal last night and only one win in our last six games, the art of solid defending appears to have gone a little bit AWOL at NCFC recently? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ing-as-I-knew-it-and-its-not-coming-back.html
Olsson's mistake aside, I thought we did alright last night. Redmond was winning the ball back quite often in midfield, and when Whittaker does get forward Russ was able to get out a bit wider and cover for him.
I thought O'Neil made the difference in midfield providing a sureness and balance that has been missing at times when the FBs bomb forward.
Agreed - plus a far higher calibre of corner kicking than we've seen in the last two seasons. Compact on the ball, read the game well and kept it simple (were you watching, Bradley?)
I thought the shape was poor a lot of the time, and that there was a lack of cohesion. NCFC were far the better team, but the level of football was quite poor.
