And this isn’t a thread about the windfall @The mighty Elfsborg received last week for selling his replica Charlton shirts (mercenary).

Lee Bowyer seems to be rotating at the moment. Personally I’d prefer him to settle on his best starting 11, and play it every game.

I would imagine Pearce comes back into central defence ahead of Pratley.

I thought the Maddison / Morgan / Shinnie combo looked decent, but Gilbey may well get a start.

Up front is a real struggle. Four strikers who are (sadly) much of a muchness. Aneke looks the best of the bunch, but can he play two games in a week <whistle>

Bogle reminds me of Josh Parker - and Bowyer is making exactly the same excuses for his short comings (“works hard for the team”).

A must win game, even this early in the season.

I agree we must win this game in order to sustain a credible assault on the automatic promotion places.

It would be great to win it well too.
3 or 4 goals - one for Bogle and one for Maddison would be welcome.
I have the feeling that Chuks Aneke serves us better off the bench than he does starting. But he has certainly earned the right to start, if he is fit and up for it.

I saw the thread title and thought of two things, the clapped out old banger of the @Horrendous Hairpiece had finally been consigned to the scrapyard or Kojak had received his store card and bought some more clobber.
    Wtf is Burton btw?

GoogIe says it's a wartime expression from the RAF, meaning a plane lost in action. Now means anything that is lost or broken.
Exact origin not known, but 'Burton' was perhaps originally the name of a pilot?

We are losing members at a rapid rate because of you. Go back to Charlton Life, where you are about as popular as VD.

We have to play Bogle, he's all we've got until January. Bowyer has to judge how to get the best out of Aneke without him breaking down again, and he seems to be getting it right. Pearce will come back, will Pratley or Gunter partner him? Pratley seems quite capable of playing 2 games a week when required so I think Matthews might make way this time. It would be nice to have a comfortable win for a change, but Charlton don't do comfortable.

If Aneke isn’t fit enough to start on Tuesday night then there is something very wrong. I expect us to start with Aneke & Smyth up front.

F***** off with this ban on supporters, this would have been a tick with Charlton. To add to the 140'ish I have attended with the best team in South East London<cheers>

agreed. Aneke and Smyth to start with Bogle and Washington to chase tired legs.

I think having 5 subs this season helps us, we can rotate our strikers and still have the usual 3 subs.

Pearce's first league game of the season I think.
Would agree with all those, except maybe Bogle starting with Aneke on the bench again.

If Bogle can't bag a goal against Burton in 70 minutes, then there is little hope for him. And I would then concede that Aneke should start future matches (assuming he is fit enough).
But designated taker only if we get a penalty please Omar.
