I can't give anyone a write up about this one as I wasn't there and I only heard a small part of the match on the radio. The bit I heard was after the scoreline was 1 - 1. Have to say that Sparksie seemed to mention Burton attacks quite a bit more than Argyle and it sounded as if it was ending a bit one sided with McCormack earning his crust. The stats on the beeb website show they had most efforts and by far the most on target. We only recorded one which presumably was the penalty. Overall irrespective of how the stats went and who was on top we got a point away from home against a top side. If we got that after not being the best team on the pitch then I have to say it's a point gained rather than two lost and is a good result. Cup match next week which should be our result, he says through a grimmace because it's the cup, followed by Portsmouth and lyndhurst's Armed Forces fixture. Stay in the cup and I think it will be a crowd and a bit for that one.
A really good point especially as we obviously didn't play well and I expect that Burton will feel aggrieved to have been pegged back and not got all 3 points. Wasn't there but listened to Sparksy and by all accounts it was Luke that kept us in the match (again). Gaining points 'ugly' is the sign of a god team. Next focus is the ARMED SERVICES DAY match V PORTSMOUTH. Come on and get to HP. Oh of course we have to dispatch Fylde&Coventry from the cups first.
Thw last 3 games: Wimbledon away against 2 top scorers in the one team, Cheltenham, then in the Top 10 themselves, and Burton away haven't been the easiest and yet we remain undefeated and have gained 5 points, scored 4 and conceded only 1. A penalty for Reid is nothing to be ashamed of: let's be honest he gets no protection from refs and could win at least one in every game given the treatment he gets from centrebacks. This just redresses that balance a bit. There's a long way to go yet but if we can keep winning at home and battling for points away then we'll do OK. The flaw in the plan may be that although we have a better squad than before, Bobby Reid seems to have added an extra spark which we would miss if he returns to his own club at the end of this month.
After Bobby Reid's next completed month... isn't that the end of it for us with him .....or am I thinking wrong on that ?
Watched the penalty decision on the local news and there is no shame in an actual penalty being given for it being a penalty all the way. He was going wide so stupid challenge by the Burton player. I wasn't going to bother about the cup match next weekend but apparently my grandaughter wants to do her second game so I guess I'm going then. I'd be surprised if there are more than 5000 there for this one as it's not a great tie is it. Especially with Pompey the following weekend. It's the usual cry of people only having so much money to chuck about so they pick their matches.
I think we can do one more and if timed correct can take it through to the January window were we could get him on a longer loan if available. Good point not great performance from what I heard but these dirty points could be vital come end of season.
Yes mex.....you might well be right......I've seen that suggested elsewhere....since my post above.......lets hope it will happen.
