Irish Mirror reckons we're in talks http://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/transfer-news/queens-park-rangers-open-transfer-3645405 Doubtful but I hope to be pleasantly surprised
Queens Park Rangers open transfer talks with Bafetimbi Gomis as he leaves Lyon Jun 04, 2014 22:30 By Alan Nixon Newly-promoted Hoops hope £70k-a-week contract will land France striker also linked with Newcastle, Sunderland and Swansea Jumping to Hoops? Gomis could replace fellow France international striker Loic Remy at Loftus Road QPR boss Harry Redknapp is in talks with French striker Bafetimbi Gomis about joining on a £70,000-a-week deal. The Lyon target-man is available as a free agent after letting his deal at the French club run down and he is keen on a move to the Premier League. Newly-promoted Rangers plan to blow away their rivals for his signature away with a whopper of a contract offer. Sunderland and Swansea have also inquired about Gomis, who has long been linked with Newcastle, but Redknapp has now begun negotiations. Gomis may wait to see what other options emerge, but the west Londoners are seeking a quick answer as they have his countryman Loic Remy's boots to fill up front. Remy will be sold in the summer window after a season on loan at Newcastle, and the anticipated fee of £12million fee would help Redknapp both balance the books and strengthen his squad. Gomis has been linked with moves across the Channel in the past but the fee and his own demands have proved a problem. Now though, that has changed. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...k-rangers-open-transfer-3645338#ixzz33i9hMXKd Follow us: @DailyMirror on Twitter | DailyMirror on Facebook
I've just checked him out Kerry. Apparently he turned Newcastle down because he wants £100,000 a week! http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...astles-bafetimbi-gomis-transfer-chase-3584301
Doesn't sound the right sort if true. We defo need someone to partner Austin. I read that Newcastle are in for Ings. That's the sort we should be after.
He's a mercenary twatbut that could work in out favour if we sell him on quickly, he's 28 so may get a good fee if he does a Remy. I'd only take him on much less wages with app and goal/assist bonuses.
Yeah I like the idea of lower base salary and then massive performance related bonuses that say that if, for example, he bangs in 20 goals he would've earned the equivalent of 80k a week. Else he'll have to scrape by on a measly 40k.
Not until January transfer window when they sit rock bottom, and he has got a taste for the prem and does'nt want to leave it.
Potentially! Though Ings seems a good sort, I'm not sure he'd abandon them. If he scores a hatful of goals this season, there'll be suitors for him regardless of whether Burnley are relegated or not. I'm looking forward to seeing them in the PL actually, great little team. The 'Vings' partnership will still give PL defences headaches imo
Austin doesn't seem to link up well with a 2nd centre forward, or at least he hasn't so far with us. He seems to operate much better as the lone striker with 3 behind him. IMO we need a back up forward to play that role.
Don't know much about this bloke but if we sell remy for 10mill & wages will come off & had already received 2mill from geordies, then as there is no transfer fee involved only wages! but then I wouldn't go above 60k which is still a hell of a lot of money & be quids in, but on the other hand how would the rest of the lads feel if he joins & on top wages & we don't want that again.
Hoped our days of paying silly wages was long gone......some decect strikers in championship who could do a job in PL because in reality it is the sides from 8th down who we will be looking to take points from...... Can not really afford to be paying more than 30k - 40k a week, bonuses on top if need be.......
I hoped our days of believing the papers had long gone too. How does anyone know if A) We are actually interested in this guy, and B)How would the paper know what we are going to offer? People need to give the club the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise for a change, instead of believing the papers about every silly story they print about us.
I would go for Jay Rodriguez (12-15 M?) to play with Austin ... Saints look to lose a few players I would also snap up James Ward-Prowse and Solly March in a heartbeat as both these players could make the next world cup IMO French players then again raid the Saints: Morgan Schneiderlin or my local new team Montpellier for the excellent Rémy Cabella Gomis is class no doubt but of course he deserves to look for a big money move ...
I would like us to sign realistic targets such as Troy Deeney and Jordan Rhodes if available. If we had these 2 plus Austin available upfront I would be quite happy.
