    Paper talk?
Also quoted £7mn release clause - but that maybe bull.

"Gomis, who broke our hearts in the recent 2-1 defeat we suffered at the Liberty Stadium, is reportedly frustrated at playing second fiddle to former Arsenal target Wilfriend Bony and at the lack of playing time he has had – just two Premier League starts (eight sub appearances) totalling a measly 288 minutes."

    If true, should we

    a) persuade him to stay and prove himself during the ACN
    b) Take the cash and bring in another striker
    ?

For that cash I'd say thanks Bafe and look at someone like Sadik scoring goals in the Swiss league - good standard and more akin the Premier style than France, Spain, Italy and no European cup.

A tough call. But I would pass on the money unless we absolutely have a replacement lined up as good as or better and who is capable of being a good fit to our style. The last part is critical because mid season the new player must step in and be productive especially with Bony going to the ACN. Gomis, for better or worse, knows us and should be adapted by now and we know him. I don't think we want a learning curve mid-season.

Unless there are injuries he is not going to start at Arsenal either.

Stumpy mentioned this on another thread from a piece in the Daily Mail. To be honest I wouldn't be that disappointed if we did sell as long as we have somone lined up. I think he has done ok since he has been here in the limited time he has had on the pitch. Took his goal well against Arsenal. Always looks a little clumsy and a bit rushed for me. So I wouldn't be gutted should he move on. Still think there is absolutely nothing in it.

Also apparently Newcastle are sniffing as well.

I think it's just journalist fiction. He knows he gets a month at the start of the new year where Bony is away, and he'll know that he'll be needed for a decent amount of games during the congested Christmas season. His time to shine is coming and the panther will be licking his lips at the opportunity to have exclusive game time to show us he's good enough to be number 1!

Why would we want to sell gomis when we just baught him....Bullshit. And why would Arsenal want a player who is second choice and have hardly played when they can get a super star anywhere in the world....dont make sense and if it dont make sense it's bull...

For one thing , we got him for free but on big wages.Unload him at a profit ,let the next team worry about his wages and we take no chances on how good he is..Spend the 7 million on someone else whose wages might be more acceptable...... maybe , depending on how Emnes slots in.Emnes coukd use minutes .

gomis is a good player and needs more game time to show his obvious potential. A team like arsenal is not going to buy a player who is second choice.....

Despite new contract still a chance could be tempted away in Summer so I think we need to be careful with Gomis. Finding replacements may be difficult and expensive.

Don't recall anyone else stating this Roof, just you.

I don't know so may well be wrong but imo Roof its not in our make up to pay 'big wages' to one player as this would upset the balance in the squad which we rely upon to perform as we do. I just don't see us doing this.

Stumpy it was reported that we were paying him 75,000 per week, but as there was no transfer fee it would come from the money we would have spent on the fee.

Thanks TLF, £75k p/w, Jebus that's ridiculous don't you think?

Soz Roof, you was right <ok> and I agree, bye bye Gomis ASAP, take what we can and put faith in Barrow, Dyer, Emness or Donnelly to play point or, buy someone worthy.

    75k p/w WTF
