16 goals so far for David McGoldrick not bad for a player once called 'a headless chicken'. 4 more to be our first 20 a season man since the vastly over-rated IMO Shefki(swallow dive)Kuqi. How many will he finish on............my guess is 24.
McG to finish on 25 goals. I love the way Mick has bigged him up all campaign, he must really feel like he is the most important part of the team.
Well I've been proven wrong, I said he wouldn't get more than 15. It'll be interesting to see how many of those are from outside the box.
16 is a very good goal return from David McGoldrick. He doesn't seem to score in patches either, then go nine or so without a goal which is great. I'll go for 21/22, that would be a great season. I'd like Murphy to hit 12 or so, and Hunt to get 3-5 between now and the seasons end.
Because he seems to score more than his fair share of 20+ yarders presumably. I was incredibly disappointed when I saw him early on here, after having done so well for Coventry. Think it was at Blackburn last season, it was amongst the worst performances in a Town shirt I'd seen - so weak on the ball, running was aimless and looked completely lost, one of those rare occasions when you'd be better off with ten men. From that stuttering start to Town's most complete striker in a generation - it's a full 9 seasons since anyone bagged 20 for us and he looks set to smash that. If we had another top striker to score goals and work off McGoldrick then that's the probably the single thing that would put us in the driving seat for promotion. At least for the time being we have one part of that jigsaw well and truly sorted.
If only we could find that elusive "fox-in-the-box" player to play alongside him. I agree he has exceeded my expectations from him this year, purely because i don't actaully see him as a striker/forward. If we had another player to play on the shoulders of the opposing defence, then i think we could score a lot more goals.
Because he seems to score more goals from outside the box than inside SD. He's got a great shot from him but as others have said he's not that fox in the box striker, so it's very impressive that he's managed to score so many goals from outside the box. I didn't think he'd be able to consistenly score as many goals because of the type of goal he scores but fair play to him. It would be nice to see a player alongside him who attacks the ball more in the box hopefully that'll be SEB. When all fully fit I wouldn't mind seeing us go back to a 4231 formation with Murphy, McGoldrick, Taylor and SEB in the front 4 as: ----------SEB Murphy, McGoldrick, Taylor but I geuss that would seem a little gungho.
I expect we will see him in a town shirt again but not too sure he has a future at the club, he's just too unpredictable for Mick really
Looking at the list of 20+ goals a season I was surprised by a few names that were not on the list eg. Mathie Marshall and more of a surprise to me Kywomya.
After 80 minutes on Saturday the Barnsley fans were singing " Wheres David McGoldrick " a few minutes later they knew exactly where he was. Jack Marriots a hell of a shout Hoppers.
We'll do alright having McG, SEB, Murphy and Marriott next year. Not sure about the others but those are the four I'd keep if given a choice.
Just shows how deadly you have to be in front of goal to reach that milestone. All three of those players had the confidence to stick the ball in the net but I don't think at any point they ever had anything like the service and opportunities McCarthy's team is creating. Kiwomya and Marshall were both my season ticket era at Town and I remember a lot of their goals were runs they made themselves to then try and slide past the keeper rather than just having to apply a finish. To be fair, Arsenal and United apart, a 1994 Premier League defence is probably not far off comparable with a 2014 Championship defence so I reckon that's the difference.
Murphy definitely deserves a place, it's about time we saw Marriott and it's way too early to judge SEB. Don't think any of those three are the player we need alongside McGoldrick. Dare I say Billy Sharp would fit the bill?
Billy Sharp? Now thats a player i would be glad to have next season, isnt he back at Donny on loan at the moment? Hes obviously not wanted at Southampton well worth a shout.
