Going nowhere..why not??

If I made pies, I'd be at work making pies tomorrow. I might well be thinking I wish I could make pies for a better employer - but I'd still be making pies while I thought it. Bent was scoring goals? - so what? The season he left Spurs he was the top scorer there too. It doesn't mean he was happy there. Or here.

But we aren't talking about making pies for $7 an hour are we? We talking about playing Football at the highest level for millions of pounds a year. You just cant compare any job to being a professional athlete! Bent came to us to make more $$$ and left to make more $$$$

Bent and Gyan were perfectly happy imho until $$$ came calling, and that is hardly Bruce's fault is it?

If Short had upped the wage structure to that of villa's and al nin ( or whatever ) you think Bent or Gyan would have left?

I for one doubt they would have left !!!! Modern day footballers are YOBS and all they think about is fanny and fast cars, and no matter where you live or where your from $$$$ gets you that.

Although we had to many last season, what ever happened to these loan players we were supposedly going to be seeking?

You think Bent left Spurs to get more money at Sunderland? I doubt that somehow. Gyan told the Ghanaian press he wasn't very happy here in March. $$$ came calling in August. So I think we'd best agree to differ on both points. I always thought the 'greedy bastard' bit was the easy answer, but who knows?

If the plan is to stick with the same manager for the long-term then it is vitally important that you employ a good manager...

.... and who might that good manager be? How many of the current stock of available managers have never been sacked or faced the same problems and pressures as Bruce. Are we after a new Saviour? we sacked the last one we had!!

For god sake it's not that bad yet which is why he has not been sacked.

Bruce sees Richardson and Bardo as our 2 left backs.

He sees Sess and Larsson as our LW, you will notice a lot of the best wingers play on the opposite wing to their favoured foot: Downing, Young, Nzog, Krancjar, Nani etc.....

If by Christmas he has not got some results I am sure he will be gone.

Gyan and Bendtner would have been a good partnership, but that was out of his hands.

Quinn is being smart, we need stability so he is not jumping the gun, let's get behind the team until Xmas and see where we are.

If we are 11th 12th and we can get a quality striker and centre half in then we have every chance of being top half.

Got to disagree that he see's Sess and Larrson on the left. Larrson spent pre season on the right, Sess in the hole, He has totally f*cked up on the left! Maybe this young kid from Ireland is part of the masterplan?

Re; The argument about players needing time to gel and the comment about playing with 10 strangers in a park you've never met before

All our new signings bar Bendtner were brought in early summer, they've been playing together every day since July and had a full pre season together and now 8 competitive games. The time to gel argument is an excuse in its very essence.

Yes we are enjoying the best sustained period of top flight football in many of our lifetimes but its the signs that are clear that it could be coming to an.abrupt end is why we are so worried, you'd think.some fans have never seen a relegation if they think everything is rosy.

Re; we are no Bolton. Have you seen who Bolton have played this season? If Bolton had our fixture list I dare bet they'd have more than the 6 points we have managed.

We were made to look poor against Chelsea, where-as Bolton were made to look like primary schoolkids...they are trully awful at the moment...

We got Chelsea before they'd hit their stride imo if we played them now I think they'd put 4 or 5 past us.

Bolton have been damn unlucky with their fixtures, they've only had one bad result really the loss to Norwich but that was due to losing 4 on the bounce against top teams.

We've had Norwich, Swansea, wba, stoke

Good result against Liverpool on the opening day, I can handle a defeat against Chelsea even though they were poor.

Newcastle however is still a dreadful result, they may have become a decent team since but I think that was on the back of the confidence they took from.beating us. They were truly woeful against us.

I'm not sure how this is a defence of Bruces abilities? Indeed it looks one of the very reasons he is clueless.

Bardsley is blatantly a right back. He has played left back regualrly for the first time in his career at Sunderland. He has done ok because of his commitment levels but that doesn't make it right. Richardson? Just hilarious that Bruce still considers him a left back. He costs you far too many goals and just can't play there. If Bruce still sees him as a left back, I'd sack him for that alone its so stupid! He is the leagues worst left back. He is targetted every time I've watched you.

Larsson has also played his whole career on the right and is not a winger for me, he is right midfielder a la Barton, Beckham, players like that. They'll never really beat a man but don't need to. As such I think these players need to play their natural side more than a winger. Wingers are slightly different as they tend to be tricky players who look to beat their man. Playing either side is more applicable because they can go either way. I think Sessegnon could do a job there but is definetly better in the hole.

Bottom line is you have needed a left back for probably 3 years? Maybe more I don't know but the last one I can remember you having was McCartney. How can you go that long without one. Left wing, I like Richardson but my mackem mates say he has been turd when played there. I just think its worth a shot because he'll offer natural balance and it was that role which earned him national honours.
