The national anthem will not be played at this Sunday's Carling Cup Final because the FA fears that Welsh fans will boo it. If the Welsh don't want to hear the English national anthem at an English cup final, why don't they **** off and play in the Yaky Da League?
suits both sides really P.S. its QUEEN 1 u 2 e's
It used to be the tradition to play GSTQ at the end of movies in the cinema. The world moves on. It's a football match, not a Royal wedding.
It's a cup final, GSTQ is played at both English cup finals because they are special, national occasions.
Why God Save The Queen though? What has it got to do with football? It's a dirge of a tune. Plus it's the British national anthem, not the English one. Would it not make more sense to play something that is quintessentially English such as...well, I'm not sure what but anything has to be better than GSTQ.
God Save The Queen should still be played at the final but to keep the Welsh happy they should also play Mary Had A Little Lamb
I like the sex pistols version ... you could play that
Dear Lord above - I agree with one of your threads Well said - if they don't like it they can piss off and form their own league - and that goes for Cardiff City as well.
Agreed 100%. This is a very inclusive solution. If we respect the Welsh and their traditions (baa baa) then maybe they won't boo?
If GSTQ is not the English national anthem, what is? It might not be the most funky flava in da house but if it is the anthem then that is what should be played.
We don't have one. Land of hope and glory and god save queen used at Rugby, Jerusalem is used at the cricket, god save the queen at most other sporting events. I think they some kind of vote at some stage between the 3 and Jerusalem was the choice. Its maybe a good opportunity to try a new one. Lets Get Ready to Rumble - Ant and Dec
