where are the goals coming from? top 3 english scorers not even in the squad, holt, graham and defoe. Cambell can not get into his club side, wellbeck adds something different but his strike rate is poor. pick the players in form even if they play for smaller clubs. rickie lambert of southampton now has 23 goals, has not missed a penalty in 3 years worth considering. surely its better to pick inform players rather than others just because they are at big clubs. honestly can not see england scoring

Yeah Crouch and Holt up front.
Keep the ball in the air at all costs.
No midfield - just pass back to keeper for devastating long balls up to Crouchy and Holty.
All players must be at least 6` 3" tall with "good engines".
I think I'm onto something here.
With those simple but revolutionary tactics, I think the domination of Europe is inevitable, for the Mighty English Juggernaut.
ps - Tony Pulis as manager. Stuart Pearce as interpreter. Graham Taylor as tactical co-ordinator and "expert punditry". Captain, Anton Ferdinand.

They laughed at Fulton, too, with his steamship.

The answer is, I don't know where the goals are coming from.

    Hart

Cole/Baines Lescott Someone other than Terry Walker/Richards

    Barry Parker

    Young Welbeck Walcott

    Someone other than Rooney

Young can score. Bent and Defoe can score also. The problem is a 4-2-3-1 needs a good hold-up man and that's not really Bent and it's really not Defoe.

Though Lambert has no chance, it's not a bad thought. He can score and his chances of being effective at the top level are pretty good. I'm tempted to say Crouch wouldn't be a bad choice as well in the 4-2-3-1. He can hold the ball up and he can score. But he won't be picked either.

can we hope that hodgson has his own ideas and sweeps out the underperforming senior players. i won't hold my breath, all the usual suspect from the "big" clubs will be in the squad. massive clamour for carroll after two-that's two-good games recently because he is a liverpool player. can't see any surprises in the squad so expect the usual early exit. at least the poor overworked dears will be able to have a nice holiday afterwards.

    Good thread this <ok>
Goals win games well, ever since I started watching 50 odd years back it then and it still applies.

Whoever said Lambert from Southampton why not? Holt sure and also Crouchie. A much better ball player than most credit him with. Rooney certainly..
the rest we well certainly struggle to score that many this Summer. Welbeck is the only other I would have selected along with Defoe. But a good header of goals?

Lambert, Holt, Crouch I would chance any of those. As it stands Woy may as well have taken most of our U21 squad becuse he will learn didley squat about any of those forwards he selcted. Most will be way past it by the next world Cup anyway...

You remember the crackers that Chamberlain scored against Oldham and Walsall? He came off the bench and almost got a hat trick in both games. I reckon he could be a threat. Defoe has a pretty good strike rate for England and is an excellent finisher. I think providng a supply line will be more of an issue than finding a finish.

Unfortunately we won't be playing against Oldham and Walsall in the Euros. I still think it's far too early for Chamberlain.

Oldham and Walsall were pretty poor, but that was over a year ago and he's come on a lot since then. He won't look like a boy amongst men, I'd put money on it.

    1. Rooney (inside the box, skillful goals)
    2. Walcott (tap in, from 6 yards out)
    3. Cahill (corner set piece)
    4. Lampard (distance shot)

The only goalscorers in my opinion.
