For the last few years, its fair to say Liverpool FC relied heavily on Torres&Gerrard for goals...If one or both where injured, we looked about as threatening as Nani in a dress. So Kenny's very quickly picked up on that...2 strikers with 20+ goals each in them, three midfield's with 10+ goals each in them and a far more even spread of burden. I personally can't wait to see the formations and teams put out next season, as for the 1st time in ages, i think we'll play football the right way, entertain and goals will be a plenty
Yep, can't wait. I hope we can complete the signings we have left before the first game kicks off, especially if we sign a striker because Luis Suarez will be on international duty. And anyone know if Suarez and Lucas got a break this summer? Or have they been on international duty the whole time? The last thing we need is burnout
Pretty much in the mix the whole time, maybe a week or two off? I think the teams reported to Argentina about 2 weeks before the tourney started, something to that effect.
I hope and sure King Kenny will give 'em some time to relax. But really can't wait to see the whole squad fit and firing.
People are throwing out ideas on who will play etc, I don't see Henderson playing but if Suarez, Lucas, and Gerrard are not ready he might get thrown in from the start. Think once everyone is back he will go to the bench and have some time to watch, learn, few minutes here and there.
Agreed, people seem to jump to the conclusion that because we spent £16m+ on him he'll be an automatic first teamer, not true.
As far as I know the Copa America finishes on the 24th of July.Lucas and Suarez possibly will get the next two weeks off. That should have them back just before the season starts. However I reckon they will be raring to go for the start of the season.
If thats true then its perfect. Can't wait to see us against Sunderland! On topic: Suarez, Carroll, Gerrard, Adam just to name a few. Not to mention Aquilani, Meireles and any other people we sign!
C. Ronaldo was what 17 mil? He started out on the bench, close to the same age maybe a little younger than Hendo..... before United fans jump on me, not comparing the two's ability, but comparing that the correct method of development will make that 16 million look like not only money well spent but money that can turn a nice profit as well.
and yes the final is july 24th, Chile and Colombia darkhorses, will see how Uruguay and Brazil bounce back after their draws. Argentina..... how can you have that much firepower and nothing?? I know, Argentinian(?) pressure and media can be just as bad as the British press and pressure.
Agreed. And its also signings like Henderson who bring the creativity to score goals. They can pick out a player aswell having good composure on the ball
Am I the only person who got the impression that we tended to play better when Gerrard or Torres were injured?? I thought we relied too heavily on them when they were fit
I don't think we played 'better', more as a team maybe, certainly not 'better' though. Although I do understand where you are coming from, Gerrard and Torres got us the results and without them we did suffer, although we did get some good team performances without them
Ome myth that was firmly sunk following Kenny's appointment was that Liverpool are a 1/2 man team. Whilst a fully fit Gerrard would indeed be a major asset we now do have the resources not to rely upon him alone and to rest him.
We're a completely different side under Kenny.I reckon Torres failed to adapt to Kenny's methods as it was more to do with the team and not just him,as he had a tendency to play for himself. If Kenny signs Downing or someone similar he will set up a formation that puts an emphasis on high energy.Winning possesion, and quick one-two touch passing, and getting as many players into the opposition 18 yard box as possible.
