I thought Pards was talking ****e when he was speaking about bringing back 'The Entertainers'. However, I've thought about it there, and I think that next season could bring quite a heavy number of goals. We'll hopefully have: Nolan - 10-15 goals a season Barton - 5-8 goals a season Ben Arfa - Could be another 10-15+ goals a season A new striker - If we get someone with some real class, they could bag 15-20 goals a season, especially with Ben Arfa right behind him feeding balls through A new winger? - If we do get a new winger with some class, that could be another nice batch of goals. 5-10 perhaps? Then we have players who are more likely than others to chip in on the odd occasion: Colo S Taylor Jonas Tiote So yeah, if we bring in some creative players this summer, we could be seeing a lot of goals and hopefully a lot of big scoring matches. We've already had a few this season (4-1 Wolves, 4-4 Arsenal, 5-0 West Ham, 5-1 Mackems, 3-4 Chelsea, 6-0 Villa) and that's only with our current team, so imagine what we could be doing next season if we spend wisely. Looking forward to it.
I'm getting excited about next season, I just hope our excitement doesn't get dashed by a poor transfer window!
All of the above and possibly Ireland 8-15 goals although I've heard he is demanding 55k or something which due to his recent injury problems we are unwilling to pay. I think if Taylor can play regularly and stay clear of injuries he could easily come out with about 6 goals which for a centre half would be fantastic.
If I were Ireland, I'd take a lower wage but request that my contract was reviewed in January, so if I perform very well and earn my worth, the wage would be increased (like Tiote's contract).
He's always been a bit of a threat from corners. Not sure if Barton will get as many, but he'l get loads of assists hopefully. We should be bringing in a good stiker and another good winger like you've said which would go someway to returning us to being labeled "The Entertainers" which I would love nothing more.
I think it would help us attract better players. I know it's just some fan nickname, but if we become renowned for banging in a lot of goals and creating some very entertaining matches (like a lot of our ones this season - especially the 4-4 against Arsenal) then it must be an appealing prospect for many players.
Why not combine them? And it would be good seeing players joining because they want to be part of something special at Newcastle.
I hate to say this but the most league goals Ben Arfa has ever got in a season is 6. And that was in the French league which isn't the best quality league in Europe. I really do hope he does get the 10-15+ goals next season I really do, but I just don't see it happening.
He's only 23. Will still be improving . Plus I'd like to think Jonas can chip in with a few more goals next year.
Arent we already 5th top scorers in the league now? And that's only behind the top 4. Add a deadly, 15+ goal striker into the mix and we're laughing.
I'm fairly sure he played as a winger in France. Here at Newcastle, Pardew has said he's going to be played 'in the hole' behind our striker as an advanced playmaker. It's a bit like where Nolan would do well really. It's this sort of position where he can bang them in.
I want Ben Arfa taking our free-kicks from shooting positions, unless we sign someone better at them of course. I remember trying to make an article about this on old 606 but they refused it for some reason
