Bottom Line is, we dont need Defenders Really, we dont ship that many goals Midfield...... Trotter for me has been really poor for months! (trotter by name trotter by nature!) he has always been a laboured player little movement and hardly breaks into a sprint but his passing and setups have always been pretty good, now his passing has been really poor! Abdou is a work horse will try and win everything but he has never been a passer! We need some creation for the top guys! as seen against palace, we played crab football, high levels of possession but we got to the box and played side to side until totter lost it! up top is really poor, no creation plenty of oppurtunity but no finish! for me we need to cut some dead wood and bring in a proven striker and a playmaker CM/CAM and ones that are not a sick note! so many of our team are on long team sick leave! we had so much success last season with a good goal scorer and the loanee's of Andros and Puncheon, but we have made no effort to bring in players like that since! we have 3 wingers in my books that are really good!, Bouazza, Henry and Feeney, and when things arent working on the wings they can interchange! which is fantastic, but if we dont have a goal scorer then its pointless! I see alot of people calling for Jacketts head which wont resolve anything! he saved us from league 2 and got us back to the championship in just over 2 seasons, the issue is we dont spend on wages! cant compete on that level at all, Westham have players on 45k a week! we dont pay over 8K ....
Neil agree entirely and if Jackett walks (and he just might) it will be a massive loss the problems lye a lot deeper and we are not being told anything from within.
Agree Mighty. There's a hush and it becomes On the plus side (there's not many pluses) just seen Batt's interview http://bit.ly/yM4kDL post Daggers game. If raw enthusiasm can help us, he's got it by the bucketful. Reminds me of Cahill running to the physio in the FA Cup semi at Old Trafford in 2004 after he scored. If Batt'd scored, he'd exploded! The scene is set for heroes - God knows we need one and he's up top. I like stories that end happy!
Andros and Puncheon - esp the former are big losses and one or similar was needed as well as a proven goal scorer. The fact is we are here because we don't have similar players - don't create = don't score and no one to score also = don't score. The hard part is trying to do that with little money as stated already. We do need some sort of academy if we aren't going to pay better wages but like @mightywall says - there are bigger problems and not told what is happening. If everything was good I believe some signings would have been made and nothing heard could be good or bad but given our league position doesn't look promising currently. Let's hope we start winning for all our sakes!
Weve heard it twice from Kenny about not threatning in the final third aka daggers and palace and missing scoring oppotunities at b.city , but it was always gonna be a stick or twist situation in the championship regarding players. In league one ,getting puncheon and townsend was a real coo on loan to propel us as a winning play off side, but the problem in the higher division is that these were the sort of players we needed to sign if we were to challenge for another playoff spot or to avoid relegation but we are more intent on bringing in more loan players to fill the void, but we had oppotunities to try for Rhodes and a few high profile players,i hope kane and whoelse kenny brings in proves me wrong but the mcquoid , marquis attack has,nt materialised with mcquoid albeit injuries has been a flop and marquis being poor on one on one with the goalie and not capable of scoring enough in his early stages of his career. It all comes down to the chairman Berylson at the end of the day , will he stick by just letting kenny bring in loan or players that are average who cant get in their sides ie n'guessan or actually be willing to give kenny the cash ie 800,000 and go get a top champ player and maybe risk the pay structure to show some ambition which i doubt in jan market. But like mightywall said ,if kenny is struggling to get results and doesnt get higher funds i think kenny is the type of manager who might just walk which would be a shame as i think hes a good manager.
You're right, BigNeil, we do need a scorer. I said last season on the old 606 that having a good defence is OK but all that means is that you are limiting the number of goals you are going to lose by. Get some-one up front that knows where the bloody posts are and get him to shoot between them. Fifty shots on goal and none getting in is better than what we currently have, and with luck, enough shots on goal and SOME will get through. Lets not renounce KJ too soon. He may well be getting grief from the board but no money! In KJ I TRUST.
