One thing that's excited/impressed the most this season is the fluency in goals from midfield - 22 in total so far and that's not including wingers. Over the last 7 or so years, season in season out, this has been in short supply and been yet another sign of our deteriorating midfield. Not just the lack of creativity but the lack of midfield goalscorers. This season has been a revelation thanks to the likes of Herrera, Mata, Fellaini and even Blind when he's played there. That's bloody promising. It relieves pressure on our strikers, it breeds confidence throughout the team...and it will help to make us more of a complete team next season while we strengthen further in the summer.
Yep. It seems that at last we've found a way to make use of the talent we have. We need to reinforce the defence with one or two CBs and a good top class striker to complement Rooney ( Zlatan ?) and we've got a good team. I guess we have now moved from 50% to 75% of our potential.
Carrick, Anderson, Fletcher, Park, Cleverley, a deep-lying Scholes, Giggs in mf, none were prolific goalscorers. That's where we havent matched the other top 4 teams in the last 6/7 seasons.
