As an attacking unit, our midfielders assist in plenty of goals so i've no complaints there. Against Stoke, Couthino, Sterling and Hendo all fluffed decent opportunities to score themselves yet none of them seem to have the composure required in front of goal. It's not as though they don't have chances either, yet the three of them probably don't have 10 goals between them! With Gerrard playing much deeper these days, it's important that they can all chip in regularly with goals....we can't always rely on SAS.....or maybe we can!

Would really love to see us have a great goal scoring midfielder like Gerrard was or like Toure is today or like Hazard has become for Chelsea. Do you think our trio can become that? They're all young so potentially yes...surely they will all learn for training alongside the deadly duo!!

btw, this thread has nothing to do with me backing Coutinho to score at anytime during the game yesterday and him fluffing his chances....honest! <ok>

reckon we may see it happen next season with Hendo and Coutinho.

Arsenal had similar with Wilshere and Ramsey and look at the dif they are making now by chipping in with goals, hopefully we will start to see that happen with Hendo and Coutinho, it takes time, they both need to learn to be more composed in front of goal, that will come hopefully.

I can remember Ramsey getting crucified by gooner fans last season....despite having to return from that horrific injury! There's a lot of sense in your words <ok>

You can definitely see it's an area for improvement. We are getting the chances for the players you listed so yes it would be good to add those goals (not that I'm complaining about our goalscoring record obviously). Maybe they are just saving them for the run in :)

I hope they are saving it as we're leaking an average of 2 goals a game recently <yikes>

I'v said it before and will say it again. Henderson will be our Lampard. But Lampard didnt start scoring regularly until he was 24. A Lampard level of goals from midfield would do wonders for us.

if he learns to aim a shot he can get a few. clearly he gets up there. its a matter of capability to convert.

for coutinho is a matter of running a bit, he looks tired and needs a rest to get the best out of him in march to may!

I think part of the reason SAS have been so fruitful is that the midfield is less selfish and look to supply them rather than take chances going for goal.

As long as we are getting plenty of goals (and we are) I don't care who is scoring them.

There's definitely a bit of this for sure but all 3 of the named players have had a lot of chances recently and very few have been put away <ok>

    hot strikers = great.

    spread of goals = great.

if you've one guy who wants a goal a game record and one who is now scoring 2 goals a game? you will be hard to beat.... coutinho is desperate to score more. also good but not at the detriment of the team.

I think the key thing is that Coutinho, Hendo and Sterling are getting into the right positions in the first place to miss the opportunities.

They're all under 23 years of age, and I'm sure the composure will come in time. <ok>

Sterling Definately needs more composure as does courthino. I think Henderson has it but does tend to snatch at half chances.
We need goals from midfield because you cannot rely on SAS all the time.they are bound to have a drought at some time.

We're being carried by a superstar. The sooner we are less reliant on one (two with Sturridge) player, the better imo <ok>
