Goalkeepers

According to Lee Ryder Newcastle are looking to sign a new goalkeeper! Why would we do that? It's the last position we need players for! Krul in goal, Harper on the bench. Great young talent in Soderberg and Alnwick. So why would we need another keeper?

In slightly related news Celtic have agreed a deal with us to loan Forster.

 

I'm beginning to think Pardew is clueless. We're trying to get Bridge on loan and now we want another Keeper?!

 

I think we do need a new keeper. If we'd had Given or Foster last season i think we would have picked up a few more points. But that's the last position we'd need to strengthen.
Strengthen:
1) Left Back + Strikers
2) Left/Right Back Cover
3) Centre Back Cover
4) Right Wing Cover

 

Priorities:

1) Decent LB
2) Decent Striker
3) LB Cover
4) Decent RB
5) Striker Cover
6) CB Cover
7) RW Cover

And that is all we need to have a decent squad that would easily finish in the top half and possibly qualify for Europe! But known us we will sign a CM a goalkeeper and a really **** striker!

 

Hmm makes no sense to me!

 

To be fair, if Forster goes, then we have Harper and Krul. If Krul gets injured, and then the ageing Harper gets injured, we're left with reserve team keepers.

 

The thing is you're probably right, solve those positions first then look to strengthen in goal etc for European qualification. But we'll most likely sign a Goalkeeper and 2 Central Midfielders.

 

We'd have to be ****ing unlucky..

 

Thats highly unlikely but Soderberg is good enough to step in for a few games and surely it would have made sense to put a can be recalled option in Forsters loan deal rather than buying a new keeper?

 

Isn't being unlucky what we're best at?

 

We cant be expected to be prepared for the possibility of losing 3 keepers, and if we did we might as well get an emergency loan rather than have some poor bugger sat in the reserves.

 

Uh, why?

Krul and Harper. Two first-team keepers. Krul is a young athletic lad, but injuries do happen. Harper is 36 now, and seems to be getting more and more injury prone. Despite Harper only being the back-up keeper and participating in reserve games, I think he's just as likely to be injured as Krul is during his first-team action.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we see Harper injured before Krul this season, despite Harper barely having any Premier League gametime.

I think Obertan has been signed as right wing cover. We already have Barton. And when you consider Marveaux, Ben Arfa and Vuckic can play there I doubt we'll sign any further in that area unless they sell Joey. For me our priority is a striker and a left back. After that I'd want a first choice right back (sorry Danny), and some cover at left full back. Then another striker. I'm happy for Kadar to be 4th choice centre half or one of these french trialists.

 

I have heard a strong rumour today, from a friend at work that scouts for Celtic that Forster was allowed to go on loan as we have agreed a deal for Rob Green. Hope this isn't true, totally uneccessary signing!!

 

There was a similar story in the Mirror today about us looking at Rob Green. Hopefully it's just the usual bull**** story making.

If we sign Rob Green I'm burning my season ticket. Sorry I just thought I'd be a bit dramatic. Seriously though it would be a really bad signing. He's not fit to lace either Krul or Harpers boots. We don't need a keeper and this would be an incredibly stupid signing and waste of money we are not meant to have a lot of!

 

prob right on the shout of rob green however i seriously dont think he'll be first or 2nd choice keeper or is that just wishful think that he wont be?!

 

Wouldn't mind having Green here as long as he costs nowt, is on low wages, we keep the other 2, and he is 3rd choice.

Well basically I dont want him at all.
