Just wondering - are we all of the assumption that if Forster is out for the rest of the season that Kelvin will be the GK for the remaining matches? Ronald said after the game that the reason KD was on the bench is because he prefers to have an experienced GK on the bench in case of situations like that on Saturday. So it may still be possible that he chooses Gazza or even Cropper to start and keeps DK on the bench? Not saying I think it should happenm, but that it's a possibility?
I would expect Davis to continue, he deserves the chance, he has a good relationship with many of the senior pros and an experienced head is what we need, none of this chopping and changing that we had at the end of Adkins' tenure. I will be interested to see who is on the bench out of the younger keepers though.
The papers would have a field day if a goalkeeper called Cropper made an error. I'm sure SKD will be our keeper as long as Forster is out.
Talking about players on loan, would anyone fancy Gaston Ramirez back..? Not that we have any recall of him anyway, as far as I know.
Forster is a big loss, just as lloris would be for spurs if his injury is bad in the race for top 4. Lloris has been on top form despite spurs conceding twice as many goals as saints. How long is he out as they will concede even more without him. Funny that saints have let in 21 compared to spurs 45 and yet spurs are the ones with 2 full backs in the England squad. Mmmmmmmmmm
If Forster's injury is as bad as we all dread, he is going to be out for six months plus so we are going to need to do something longer term to cover the first half of next season too. Bearing in mind how big Forster is, I can see him struggling to make a swift return What are we going to do early doors next season? Ideas
We were likely going to sign a GK this summer anyway, so I don't think Forster's injury really changes anything if he's only out a month or two. If it's longer than that, yeah... we could have some issues.
As said we would probably sign another GK anyway and a team of our stature (#smug) need a top keeper, especially if needed for beginning of next season. Our problem will be that whilst the Chelseas of this world can keep a nonplaying keeper happy, we will find it difficult. Look at the Boruc situation. Fonte mentioned that a few times this season Forster played with niggles...was this part of the reason for his injury? He's a big guy, putting lots of strain on his knees and ankles...was always going to be hard for him to play every game. Saints have the record for the lowest number of goals on target against this season...let's hope that this combined with SKD's experience is enough.
I wonder how much progress Gazza may have made since we last saw him? The reason I mention it is that I watched Barty Bialkowski playing for Ipswich against us in the cup and he looked assured, composed and capable. Those aren't the first words I would have used to describe him in his period on the front line for us. I always felt that Gazza was a good keeper with low confidence. Players do change. Vin
Not that I've watched any of their games live, but Gazza has been playing for the U21's a lot this season, and they've been doing OK haven't they?
Yes, he always was a decent shot stopper, his problem was commanding the box and his distribution as I remember.
