I never thought I'd find myself saying this, but why are we not considering signing Rob Green? Let me explain my thinking: We have 2 fine young 'keepers that we need to develop. Neither would - nor should - be played all season, but equally, neither should either of them spend the whole year in the u23s. Yes, we could send one out on loan, but would that mean the other stayed in the u23s, surely? There's talk of bringing in Gunn. But why would we want to develop another team's 'keeper, when our own could be getting some game time? How short term is that? There's talk of bringing in Stockdale too, but that'll cost us a loan fee & big wages - if Brum finally decide that a loan is the way to go. Should we buy him? I don't think so. The fact we want a loan tells you exactly what we think about his future career. Hardly one for the future at 34, and yet not too old to dent the hopes of our 2 young 'uns. So why not bring in Green? No fees to pay, very capable 'keeper, & the last season must surely have drummed it in to him that he can't command an assured #1 spot any more. For the same reason, his wages should be sensible too. Gives him the chance to play when required, and gives him a stepping stone in developing as a 'keeper coach too. Only problem I foresee is his ego. But handled in the right manner ..... Thoughts?
That makes a lot of sense to me providing Green is reasonable with his wage demands. BPF needs handling Correctly or he could start asking for a move IMO
I was told that Green had a dressing room bust up with player or players unknown, and there is bad blood between them, so when the opportunity came to go to Huddersfield, he took it. I was not told who the other players were or whether they are still at the club or not. Reliable source very close to the club.
Your source is accurate and the main protagonist is still at the club until after he gets knocked out of the World Cup.
Thanks guys, didny know that. You kept that quiet! Puts a different complexion on my thinking, but still have the feeling that Pontus is offski. Hopefully.
I was gonna write a thread a couple of days ago saying exactly the same thing WJ, I think it would be a great idea, give him a goalkeepers coaching job for a few years see how it pans out, he can step in if BPF goes off the boil, let him help our young keepers instead of us giving game time to other clubs players, make sense to me
Haven’t heard about the Jansson green tiff... though it wouldn’t surprise me, Pontus seems well capable of ruffling feathers on the training ground. I’d be happy enough with green back and think he was a popular figure who’d be a good influence in the dressing room and still capable of doing a job if required.
Kick the moaning **** in the bollix and send him back over here, or to ****ing Spain or wherever he lives these days
Off subject, but are you watching the download festival at Donington on Sky arts channel..some bands you'd like
