This has got to stop before anything else. It's getting beyond a joke now. Firstly the defence needs stability. The more continuity the better and injuries aren't helping here. You can't keep switching the defence as that will effect confidence..but switching the keeper this much is ridiculous. Gazzaniga has done nothing wrong at all. He has made some top saves and his heart is in it ..while I don't condone it as such he's time wasted in games cleverly. He's a young keeper as well and improving every game. If he gets no protection and lets in goals why are we dropping him for Boruc? This loss isn't the end of the world. There is no way Adkins should be getting sacked I must add. Anyone watching us in League One shouldn't have the heart to want to see Adkins leave. He's done so well the last 2 seasons. It's been a tough run this year and we need to see where we are after 20 games before anyone even thinks about sacking him (he's obviously spent big in the transfer window so he'll be under big pressure by then). However, Adkins needs to use some common sense in these sort of situations and learn from his mistakes. I find it hard to blame the defence at the moment with Adkins taking the piss with the keeper.
Oh I thought it was possibly out of respect to Davis to play him on the bench. Would be nice for a confirmation if he was injured
He's done nothing wrong so don't drop him is weak logic... Boruc is clearly the most accomplished keeper of the three, so it made sense to try to play him as soon as he was ready. It just appears he wasn't ready yet.
I know we're blaming him for the first goal, but isn't that just one of those things? The keeper must expect someone to get a touch on it. What I can't understand is playing Yoshida at left back. I know Fox isn't brilliant, but he doesn't waste possesion so much. Overall shocking. We will go down on the basis of what's happened so far
Nothing against Gazzaniga but we should have just spent out on Butland in the summer rather than pissing about on brining in 3 keeprers who are not any better than Davis
Hugo Lloris is sitting on the bench at Spurs. For me a keeper must do something wrong to be dropped. If he's doing nothing wrong it makes no sense to change
Boruc looked a little overweight to me, perhaps he needed more time getting fit, but a Gazzaniga injury meant he was rushed in a bit sooner than expected? Would have preferred Gazzaniga today in heinsight, he seems calmer and a bit more switched on than Boruc. I have a feeling there's a lot more to come from Boruc, and if this performance is one that helps him on the way to being as good as he can be, then that's what we want.
I'm not blaming Boruc for the first goal. It's a difficult one. However, Gazzaniga is extremely acrobatic and mobile. Very switched on. I think he'd have dealt with it.
I assume Fox is injured (which is why he wasn't included on a weak bench), so with that in mind, I don't think there was much else we could do. Except, you know, realise we only actually have one left back and bring in an actual backup.
What we have is a pisshead , a keeper who is short and can not command and area and whos distribution is woeful and a youngster learning the game . Thats it thats what we have , great isn't it ?
Fox must be injured. Only thing we might have done there was play Clyne and Yoshida the other way round.
Ever since Bialkowski's infamous Blackpool game, we've been thinking "If Davis gets injured then we're screwed." We now have three accomplished goalies who have had regular swappings, we've gone from having too little options to too many.
Fair enough, a difference in opinion then - I'm consistent and think Lloris should be played ahead of Friedel, as you are with thinking he shouldn't. I can understand where you're coming from, but to me personally, any opportunity to upgrade should be taken.
Don't think the change in GK impacted the defenders. The fourth goal was quality, not much anyone could do. The first goal was Boruc's fault. The middle two goals were a result of poor play that shouldn't happen regardless of who is in goal. I was skeptical about starting him, but Gazzaniga has looked okay to me. I don't see any reason not to play the younger player with the higher ceiling. In all likelihood, the defense won't be get much better over the next couple months and won't be around after January. Gazzaniga's worst flaws are probably a lack of command at the back and perhaps decision making on crosses. But that's expected and should improve with experience. Davis and Boruc aren't going to get any better.
