So RvP's goal v Aston Villa in 2013 was described as "the goal of the century" by Ferguson and has been voted the best goal scored in the last 25 years in the Premier League by players that have scored 100 goals or more in the PL.

Robin van Persie's 'goal of the century' remembered as he returns to Manchester United
    http://www.skysports.com/football/n...remembered-as-he-returns-to-manchester-united

It was a great goal but I think Rooney's overhead was better, being a bit biased:)bandit:)I'd say Suarez's goal v Norwich from 45 yards out is in with a shout or maybe John Arne Riise's v Everton which was reminiscent of Giggs goal in the FA Cup semi or his free kick v man u.

The context and importance of RvP's goal must have also played a part in the voters minds but based purely on the goal itself i think Rooney's was better.:emoticon-0119-puke:

But he meant to shin it and it went in.<grr>

So you agree that RvP's was the best prem goal in the last 25 years?

For goal of the century Gerrard against Olympiakos because it will never be forgotten and was the ultimate "what if" moment in terms of what it meant with and without the goal

I don't even remember RVP's goal so did a google and goal of the century can't be in the 13th minute as part of a 3-0 win over relegation candidates

Djimi Traore's only ever goal at Club level for Seattle Sounders. <ok>

    Purely based on player ability/aesthetics.

Almost a year after the balloon goal. Turner tapped the ball back after whistle had blown intending keeper to take kick. Because ref had blown his whistle ref he counted it as a taken free kick.

No... Torres volley against Blackburn was just as good.

The Fulham guys volley from wide around same time was awesome as well, can't remember his name.

Henry goal against us when just walked through our defence like they were training comes.

There are different types as well, team goals, long range strikes.

Danny Rose volley from headed out corner against Arsenal was outgragrous technique.

Scholes volley from the corner... first time I'd seen it be done.

Sure there are are a few special free kicks flying around as well.

I think Di Canio's volley was more famous and iconic than RVPs.

One of my favourite goals of all time was Suarez vs Newcastle.

A long ball from Enrique where Suarez was able to chest it down, round the keeper and score - despite having a defender on him, an oncoming keeper and literally few yards to do all of the above.

The technique to bring that down on his chest from a ball over his shoulder and have it land perfectly at his feet was superb.

One my favs of his was when he flicked it over Norwich defender and on the half volley riffled it into far corner.

Riise scored a number of stunning goals in his career. None of his were boring.

    Vardy vs Liverpool <whistle>

In all seriousness, it's going to take something unbelievable to beat Di Canio's vs Wimbledon in my opinion.
