For as long as I can remember (many many years), it has puzzled me why Bristol City have failed, apart from the odd and very infrequent occasions, in becoming a good strong club in the upper echelons of the Championship or lower half of the Premier. Rumours have continually floated around about two camps in the dressing room or a clique of players being led by very senior pros such as the one mentioned by you. Go back to Peter Doherty in the late 1950's, being undermined by a group of senior players, and continue through each decade with more rumours coupled with lack of achievement. With one big exception - Alan Dicks after his first couple of seasons became almost a dead ringer for Sir Alex, or vice versa. Anyone who did not want to play with his ball, soon disappeared. And where did it get us? To the promised land and don't forget we lasted there for four years with hardly a penny spent on new players and with attendances about 20% higher than the club actually published So is Derek McInnes going to fail like Millen, Wilson, Ward, Tinnion etc or bring success like AD? Having heard him since he joined us and looking at his record as a player, leading wherever he played, and with me being an eternal pessimist (that comes from supporting City for 60 years), I will stick my head above the parapet and say he will be a big success at Bristol City.
