With the way the results have gone today (not totally disastrous, but could have been better!!) I feel that we will probably need at least 4 further points to survive! I'm ruling out getting anything away at Citeh, although I realise that anything is possible, so I think we must be reasonably attacking against Chelsea tomorrow. If we sit deep and play it safe I think they'll pick us off whatever team they play. I'm not suggesting that we go all gung ho as that would be suicidal, but I'd be tempted to play 4-4-2, especially if Cisse is fit! As a few have said.......play for a win and maybe get a draw. Play for a draw and probably lose!! Thoughts?
Col, nothing to lose here now boy. Go for it, I say. We need a point at the Bridge and we should go for all three......'cos the Stoke game worries me. So, let's beat Chelski and sneak a point at City......'cos knowing QPR, that's probably the way we'll do it.
I think it's ****t or bust at this stage. wigan are safe. Bolton are picking up points I now think we need 5 or possibly 6 points to stay up. lose tomoro and we can forget about it.
An old saying Col, but i think we need to score first against Chelsea if we are going to beat them. Our back 4 has improved over the last 4-5 games. We really don't look like we will concede easy goals and just roll over. If we were not neck deep in the doodle, i would be complaining about how boring our setup is, but thats a discussion for another day. MH and his management team will have seen the results today and will now know whats required. We need to be a little bit more inventive tomorrow and not just sit back and wait like at Albion. We need to TRY and take the game to Chelsea. The first goal will be huge.
Villa to go down. Ive been harping on about this for yonks.....Villa are in free fall. Hopefully the Spuds can do us a favour cause I can see the bottom 3 being Wolves, Blackburn and Aston Vanilla
If both us and Bolton get another 3 ponis and Villa lose, then we go above on goal difference. Happy to wager a pint that Villa go down and we stay up.
Ninj, i hope to god you are right, i will however take the bet and expect to cash in when i get out of here in Sept.
Hoping Diakite makes it, he drives us forward. Other than that, just the same as against Spuds, Swans and Arsenal please. Let them have the ball where it doesn't hurt us, hassle them mercilessly, pass quickly and accurately. We can do it at home, now for the away version. Suspect we have a better chance against a 'better' team, as long as we keep shape and discipline. Quietly confident.
My only concern is that Newcastle's awful result today will give Chelsea a boost, especially as they play the Toon on Wednesday. Two Chelsea wins and Arsenal will suddenly be under pressure, particularly if Spurs win tomorrow as well. On the plus side Spurs now have a clear incentive to dispatch Blackburn, Villa and Bolton...
The one thing Chelsea haven't been good at this season is keeping leads. We don't look confident at 1-0 and have dropped more points from winning positions than any other team bar yourselves. Even if you concede first it's by no means over. If we go a 1-0 down early we usually rally and comeback.
I still think you have a great chance as long as we aren't 2 goals in front at any stage. Adopt the same gameplan as Mcleish and you should be okay. Our midfield isn't very good so Diakite will be key. We're vulnerable there is no doubt about it
