Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill is ready to make his move for Wolves’ *£10million-rated striker Steven Fletcher. The Black Cats boss now has the go-ahead from chairman Ellis Short to bid for the Scot, following the completion of Asamoah Gyan’s permanent switch to UAE outfit Al Ain . TOTTENHAM outcast Jermain Defoe is a wanted man – after two more teams joined the race to sign the out of favour hitman. Reading’s audacious £5million swoop for the England striker, 29, is already under threat with Sunderland and Stoke poised to start a new bidding war. Defoe looks certain to be surplus to requirements under new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas and is resigned to the fact his future lies elsewhere. Premier League rivals Sunderland and Stoke were soon alerted that Defoe was on the market.

Been said before, but Fletcher and Defoe up front sounds very tasty.

10m for Fletcher? Are you serious?

Fletcher is a good striker, and good for your style, but he's worth half that at the most.

He cost £7m from Burnley and has improved since then. He is 25 years old and has his best years ahead of him? Please explain yourself chump, if its not too much trouble of course.

I can imagine Flectcher being potentially deadly from Larssons crosses and set plays, but he doesn't really show a lot of quality.

He's great in the air, a good finisher, but in terms of all round quality... he's an average premier league player. You'd need to build a team TOTALLY around him. Do you really want Sess, Gardner, Seb, feeding to him, in the hopes he'll score enough goals?

You shouldn't pay more than 6-7mil for him.

If you pay 10m, then you're ******ed. Go abroad, and find a better striker.

So because Burnley sold him for £7mil to wolves, that means Wolves need to sell him for 10-15 million, if Liverpool sell carroll they wont get 50 million (they wont get anywhere near 35 million). and wolves got relegated which again puts his value down even more.

Not our fault Wolves paid 7 million for him, personally I would begrudge 5 million, I just dont think he is very good, and yes I know his strike rate is good, doesnt really mean he is good.

He's 29, the big boys aren't in for him, and he's linked with us and Stoke (where he doesn't fit, IMO).

Maybe not out of the question.

Rofl, so your argument towards buying Fletcher for 10m, is mentioning the 35m Carroll deal? XD

I personally don't give a **** if you do pay **** loads for Fletcher, it will be the same trend you've followed since you've came up, that's why you're one of the highest spenders in the league.

But I'd personally think you'd be stupid to pay 10m for Fletcher.

Fletcher is worth about £8million, as he's a goalscorer.

We will get him for around that, if we actually do want him, and he will be well worth it as he'll score goals for us.

    That simple.
