Indeed, which is a shame as it should be a celebration of Monk's achievements and recognition of the admiration for the Swans from the world of football.
I know I did , with the purpose of discussing our current manager rather than previous ones ,which as we all know becomes pretty boring very quickly . Perhaps I should start one "Monk the evil dictator" who's name should never be mentioned ever again .I'm sure that will generate some interest
It's already a borefest, Matt. Haven't seen anyone call Monk evil or a dictator but I suppose if you keep poking people with a stick they'll bite, eh?
What? Why? Can't understand your burning desire to point-score all the time, Stumpy but if that's what gets your rocks off knock yourself out. Just seems to me a bit strange that Matt would come out with that comment when he was the one who added Part 2. Valid point, I think. Anyway, yet more 'debate' about **** all here and I've got work to do. Roll on the weekend. Have fun, peeps.
If "poking people with a stick" is posting articles detailing Monk's (rightful, not unjustified or unrealistic let's remember) acclaim then those "people" have some kind of a problem.
I'm not poking anyone , just trying to highlight the fact that yet again any meaningful discussion about the current manager deteriorates into a farce , what is seen on here is not debate just a chance to point score .
Gee whiz guys im sorry i put the post up.Just thought you might enjoy reading about our manager. Oh well we live and learn.
Depends on the motive behind the post doesn't it? Seems to me 55 was just posting a new article on Monk. Nothing wrong in that I agree. Part 2? Well that's up for debate. Anyway, bigger fish to fry - back to the coalface. [Edit: just read 55's article - it's worth a read.]
There's just no big deal here. We loved Roberto Martinez for getting Swansea to the Championship and keeping us there. Some stopped when he upped sticks and went to Wigan, but hey-ho, that's life. We loved Brendan Rodgers for getting us to the Premier League and keeping us there. We accepted that he was offered a great chance at Liverpool. We loved Michael Laudrup (in his first season and some of the second) and for winning the League Cup. Things did sour with him and my perception is that the majority felt it was time for a change. At the moment, most of us love Garry Monk for his achievements so far and perhaps it has added 'romance' because of his rookie status. It may not always be so. Perhaps he will get a better offer and leave like Roberto & Brendan. Perhaps his results will fall off the cliff and he gets sacked like Michael. Who knows? But all you can do is enjoy the here and now - not wait 20 years to see how successful he is/isn't and then start enjoying it. If Monk stops delivering then he will probably get the push and rightly so. The Swansea fans (including those on here) may start baying for blood. It's just the nature of football and supporters. But at the moment he is having a lot written about him in the Press, and I am enjoying reading it and basking in his success as I did with the previous-mentioned managers.
It was well worth putting up, one of the best reads in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed that, very much appreciated by me and once again Monk is starting to be taken seriously by the football fraternity.
Don't get carried away Aswan - I think he's easily pleased. My post "we should all live in the here and now and give Monk the credit he deserves" said the same thing but curiously didn't bring such joy. Gutted.
