An interesting read albeit a moribund subject -my money is on and ties in with the 'Fermi paradox'

12 Risks that threaten human civilisation- link below opens a .pdf file

    http://globalchallenges.org/wp-content/uploads/12-Risks-with-infinite-impact-full-report-1.pdf

The paper is scientific assessment about the possibility of total human global oblivion, -in effect it is a call for action based on the assumption that humanity is able to rise to challenges and turn them into opportunities

the 12 risk these are broken down into
    Current risks

    1. Extreme Climate Change
    2. Nuclear War
    3. Ecological Catastrophe
    4. Global Pandemic
    5. Global System Collapse

    Exogenic risks

    6. Major Asteroid Impact
    7. Supervolcano

    Emerging risks

    8. Synthetic Biology
    9. Nanotechnology
    10. Artificial Intelligence
    11. Uncertain Risks

    Global policy risk

    12. Future Bad Global Governance

I often think about this kind of thing, not in a morbid way but because I think nature has it's way of restoring order.

The pandamic one scares me the most, something in Beijing, New Delhi, Istanbul for example, that could have devastating affects.

Artificial Intelligence would be cool, getting ****ed up by Megatron is way better than having some sort of obesity-induced heart attack. I'll take Megatron Death please.

I'd say a pandemic is must likely two, what with all the do gooders who are intent on leaving their wives and kids at home while they gallivant around the planet risking spreading any decease to each and every corner of the earth just for their quest for self satisfaction to 'help people'.

It's admirable to a certain point innit mate, then after that, it's just stupidity.

Go, by all means, just don't come back until it's absolutely obliterated and poses no risk to any human on the planet.

Exactly. I'm looking at these people going out to help specifically with Ebola, contracting it then coming home for treatment. I mean how ****ing stupid is that? Exactly the kind of lax protocol which could wipe us all out. <doh>
