Really hope this guy is nowhere near our first team next season, or even better, nowhere near Liverpool.
The guy defines lazy and causes a problem whoever is near to him in midfield who has to try cover him or do his running.

  2. Although I generally agree because he's been poor for the last eighteen months, he had a good game tonight so the timing of this is rather harsh!

He has a good turn of pace going forward, but looks crippled when he runs back. Thought he was the worst player tonight.

I thought he was alright tonight, kept the width which we needed and looked dangerous a few times coming inside. I still get so frustrated though with how often he looses the ball in attacking areas by trying to do too much, thinking he's some world class winger. Defensively, aside from a few good moments in the first half, he was poor like the rest of our defense tonight.

For an experienced player when it comes to title races and big games, he's a really weak minded individual. He should be one of the ones holding things together with the youngsters around him!

He'd be the first out the door if it were up to me...and that's not knee jerking from tonight, I've said he's been poor for the last 18 months.

    What utter ****e.

He produces 2 good forward runs every 10 games and is consistently lazy and unintelligent defensively, yet he's going to the world cup ahead of Flanno.

Urgh. Please don't give him a new contract, Brendo, he's not even close to worth it.

I think he is part of the reason our defence is sh!t. He leaves skrtel stranded and midfielder struggling to cover him.

Up until they scored he was ok but was culpable in their 2nd and 3rd goals. Diving in unnecessarily on the halfway line when he just needed to shepherd the guy out wide to allow players to get back and then just standing and watching skrtel defend against 2 from 10'yards away.
Lazy lazy lazy..we need better full backs without a doubt. A defensive midfielder is an absolute must. A mascherano type would have stopped at least 2 of those goals tonight.

  8. Maybe he recognised that he needed to get in early because he knew he would get raped for pace by their speed merchant?

I think over the whole season he hasn't done remotely enough to warrant a new contract...It's our number one priority IMO.

Sakho gets another season because he's not had a full one and Skerts needs to go, I know he's contributed with Goals and looked better than he is because he covered Johnsons arse time after time this year but he's not a leader, he's had his chance and as the senior men these two have to take responsibility for the lack of leadership at the back...especially as Gerrard is going to be DM and he has proved he doesn't have the cold calm head to settle the team down...blood and thunders great for a cup final but the entire team lost their heads when Gerrard lost his...ice wins leagues and the only player that doesn't let emotion rule him in our current 11 is Joe bloody Allen...And he wouldn't be on if Hendo was fit!

Don't get me wrong we have done brilliantly this year but if we really have title aspirations we need to lose players who can't think straight for an entire 90 minutes......

In which case he should have taken ball or man but his effort was so ****e he did neither. You can't really defend him Gerrez and he can't bloody well defend. He's been really awful the whole season and that's our first choice RB for Brazil...jeez!

  11. Agree with Johnson but not convinced Brod see's it the same way unfortunately.

I think you are harsh on Skrtel, he's been immense this season and I'd put him in our top five players with Suarez, Henderson, Sterling and Gerrard! However, ignoring my thoughts on his qualities for a second; Skrtel won't leave this summer as it would be a bit crazy to start the new season with a unfamiliar pairing at the back. Skrtel has been the main stay, its been him plus one other. Take him out the line-up and suddenly everything is strange.

  12. That is a better point IMO. All I was saying is dropping off wasn't a option because he couldn't keep up with the guy. Ball or man should have been the approach but he failed. Still, bit harsh to point the finger at Glen for this game IMO. Brod is at fault for encouraging the side to chase an impossible goal difference.

We need to sell every single ****ing one of our defenders. They're all dogshit. If any of you think any different you're a poor deluded ****er. Substandard wastrels every last one of them. They should be professional diggers because all they know how to make is ****ing massive holes.

    Sorry scapegoating.

The last two goals were down to panic and miscommunication in central defence.

If you as a team have no stamina to press high and track runners, you fu*king defend the right way, with 9 men behind the ball and/or you you bring Agger on!

But G, Skerts has been ever present in a defence that leaked 49 goals and a hell of a lot of them came from a lack of calm and intelligent thinking at the back.

Has he improved tremendously from last year? Yes..has he been our best defender individually, without a doubt but that looking at goals against doesn't say much. team comes first and if we can get someone that brings that quality then he should be replaced...his instincts are to back off, he gets out manoeuvred constantly in the box (hence the shirt pulling)

By all means if you think having a quality RB beside him will give him confidence to make more level headed decisions I'll go with it...

I just think there's a lot of fear/nervousness in the man...And you can't have that mentality at CB....

Dissapointed? DISAPPOINTED!? ****in hell la, it was shameful, absolutely calamitous. We're a laughing stock now. I notice you didn't disagree though. Don't know what was to blame in the end, Rodgers obvious tactical ineptitude... still, or the players basically waving Palace into our goal like car park attendants. Loserpool. End of. **** the streak we had, it's ended up with another season of jack ****, no trophy, no league title. Just a **** load of the usual disappointment. **** it.

I think our fullback positions and the lack of a real leader are our biggest weakness defensively. One of Sakho or Skrtel needs to be replaced by a proper CB next season. I don't care which, they both have strengths and weaknesses. I would side towards keeping Sakho given he's young and obviously talented. We're so poor defending down the flanks though needing midfielders or CBs to cover which leaves gaping holes.

I think this thread is in danger of making a scapegoat of Johnson for tonight, so I think we should note that he's been dire all season <ok>

  19. We could have had the best four individuals in the world in the back line, we'd have still conceded because its the Brod way. Most of the goals we've conceded have come from set-pieces or counter-attacking football, these are areas we don't seem to be concerned about and its cost us.

I was Skrtel's biggest critic at the start of the season but I believe he's been our best defender bar none. Could we do better? Share we could but I'm not changing him now is the right time. I think Agger and Toure will be going and Sakho is not ready to be the main guy, that means two new CBs. That doesn't just mean we have a unfamiliar pairing at CB, the link with Migs and the HM/DM player (aka Gerrard) will need to be developed too. Having a CB in there thats been part of the setup keeps some continuity.

  20. It was awful but I blame Brod not the players. We were 3-0 up but rather than settling for the victory we chased more goals in an attempt to close an impossible goal difference <ok>
