So much going on this weekend with the rugby, football, cricket and the fallout from some dumb constitutional situation, but has anyone been watching Glastonbury? If so, who have you enjoyed? Favourites for me have been James, The Lumineers, Bastille, Tame Impala, Two Door Cinema Club, Chvrches.
James, Underworld and Foals, who were excellent as always. Not watched Bastille or Two Door Cinema club yet. Lumineers, though not my cup of tea, quite impressed me too......seemed a good festival band that got the crowd into it well. Stuff I want to catch on sunday Bat For Lashes, Band Of Horses, Saint Etienne, Pj Harvey, Of Monsters And Men, Lcd Soundsystem and Beck!
James, just the best live band, seen them half a dozen times myself, they never let you down. Not sure why they opened though unless that is a prestigious slot? Muse smashed it as well. Churches were good. Saw a French group Christine and the Queens who I'd not heard of before and thought they were great.
I'm obviously not watching enough, only caught glimpses of the main stage stuff so far. I'll do a bit of iPlayer catch up.
I'd definitely agree about James - seen them a few times myself. We had this conversation in the pub today and someone else mentioned Christine and the Queens, I must check them out.
Friday night, Foals were great, as always, and Muse totally rocked the Pyramid - Underworld were class too. Saturday, Last Shadow Puppets, Tame Impala (who I've always really liked, and have been great whenever I've seen them) and CHVRCHES, really enjoyed Fat Boy Slim for some old school dance. Didn't watch Adele, but was impressed with Isaac Gracie on the Introducing stage - great voice. New Order were awful, Barney Sumners voice has totally gone. Not seen anything today, but did hear ELO on radio - will try to catch the highlights later.
Forgot to mention Last Shadow Puppets - they were good. We also agree on Tame Impala (Australian psychedelic rock - who'd have thought it?) and Chvrches (does it have to be upper case?). Hated Fat Boy Slim though and turned off New Order when I heard Sumner's voice. Someone in the pub today said they were good though, so maybe I should have persevered.
Agree with you Beth. ...very dated, old even.....great in the 80's but not now. Don't get me down..... Are Coldplay old hat these days?
Have to say strolls I enjoyed their set at the closing ceremony for the para Olympics 4 years ago and they know how to do stadium shows.
I like one song of theirs, but heard a story about them on the radio a few days ago which convinces me they are nice blokes. Enjoyed the ZZ Top set, those old geezers love the blues and have a certain wit not usually associated with Texas.
