I know a lot of you don't agree with me on this one but I for, am glad Carroll has been shipped out. I was getting tired of his inept ability to read a game and loiter on the outside of the 18 yard when he should have had his arse on the end of everything that went into the box. Loads of fellow kopites saying how he had come good at the end of last season and should be given more of a chance - **** that!

The guy couldn't constantly hit a cows arse with a banjo if we held it still for him! Poor judgement and poor positioning saw him become the laughing stock and this took us down too. He isn't the 'Liverpool' style player and all too often gave the rest of the team the impression hoofing the ball up to him was the best option. Time and again we saw him moaning about the ref, the opposition and even his own team mates.

Rot spreads so I think moving him on is the best for all parties. I know he didn't negotiate his transfer fee and if faced with the same scenario, I think we'd all take £90k a week but that doesn't change the fact he isn't a 20+ goal a season player and we would never be in the position to command the fee we paid for him. 10 games out of a season and half doesn't justify any more time in my opinion which is pretty much all we have had from him. Some have said he hasn't had a good run in the team well why is that? Because he wasn't good in the majority of the games he played in.

Good luck Andy, but good bye!

Not sure if a WUM, some harsh words there too, but some points I'm inclined to agree on. You won't find many others who agree though. I like Carroll but he has never been what we needed and I hope he does well at West Ham, for his sake.

Mweh, I'm never happy when a high fee player doesn't work out. He's better than we have made him look but that's because we refused to give him what he needs: a team built to service him.

He'll score plenty at WH where he will get precisely that.

Good luck to him. (I'd do my customary threats to his person if he scores against us this year but I'm assuming we had the wit to put in the loan deal that he can't play against us.....)

  4. Can't say I'm not disappointed but if Carroll was not part of Rodgers' first team plans then Andy leaving is the best option for all.

I find it a little frustrating that he has gone out on loan when we could have done with the money but then I think what if he has a stormer of a season? What if we DO change manager during the season? Etc...

Obviously from the evidence of Rodgers first few games in charge, 'hoofing it up to the big lad' is not really an option, so bye bye Andy. I wish Skertl had done it on Sunday though! In the stand would have done.

As others have said, he'll do fine at West Ham, as they'll play to his strengths.

  7. My sentiments exactly. Watching West Ham will be like watching Real Madrid for me. No, not in style or quality, but in I don't know if I want them to win or not. I want Real to win because of Alonso and Arbeloa but I also want them to lose because of Mourinho and C.Ronaldo! With West Ham, Carroll being there will want me to see them do well but Fat Sam is their manager!

Not a WUM just a personal opinion. Never agreed with his signing in the first place but was more than happy to allow him the chance to prove me wrong - Fact is, he didn't! He was a huge let down and that wasn't helped by his highly inflated transfer fee. £90k a week is a lot of cash to be throwing at a second rate striker IMO. I wish him luck, and breath a sigh of relief there appears to be good steps being taken to take the club forwrd.

On a seperate note, it looks like we have side stepped another horror signing now Dempsey has agreed to join Villa!

  9. So you are happy to go into the season with the current squad possibly minus a few? Ie, no one coming in?

Gez, there are 12 and a half hours to go, relax - BR knows what he is doing (Or so I hope) Carroll didn't make it, get over it and move on!

I agree with quite a lot of the OP's comments. Think Carrol is just not mobile enough or positionally aware for a place in BR's side. Just ridiculous that we have loaned him though!

I have nothing against Andy Carroll, but how hard is it to attack a football from a set piece? Martin Skrtel does it aggressively and it pays off and he's a centre-back!!! Andy Carroll was signed to attack balls from crosses in the 18 yard box, and hasn't done so.

I think he'll always get a good welcome at Anfield, none of it was ever his fault, and he did try.
