So according to reports, Lambert has ruled out a move for a GK I'm his PC today, but I have also read that young jed steer is on trial at yeovil to play in some friendlies.

What are your thoughts guys?

I really don't think we need one. we have goalkeeping options and I am happy with them. Rudd has always looked solid when called upon and Ruddy is very capable.

as with so many other positions this season we are stepping into the unknown, but that was true last year too and look what happened.

we'll see I guess

There are two opposing views that have been discussed to death on the subject of the goalkeeper.

Canary Dave will not move from his stance of - we do not need another keeper, Ruddy is good enough.
An opinion he is entitled to but then I do not fully agree.

Although Ruddy has improved a huge amount in the last 2 seasons I still have my doubts as to whether or not he is good enough at the top level but looking at previous keepers we have had, and in particular Robert Green I am happy Ruddy is getting the chance to prove himself.

Steady Superman, I said the same thing earlier in the summer and a number of people read it as me saying he'd be England No 1!!
It is astonishing though that we have so few top flight English keepers, and I doubt Carson has increased his chances now. He really could, with a decent season, be in with a shout of a third choice call up. Certainly something to inspire him.

We shouldn't knock the fact that the oppertunity is there, there is no reason for him not to get that spot if he has a good season, he has just as much chance and right as to any other keeper and I would love it to see him get a call up. It's every players dream to represent there country and atm ruddy has a good chance of knicking a spot in the squad was he to.have a good season...

I think Lambert nows something we dont.

I think Rudd is a lot better than any of us believe. All reports on Rudd and Steer are phoenomenal.

If Lambert says we're good. We're good!

this situation is like marmite!!

you either love ruddy and don't want a keeper or you don't like ruddy and want a new keeper! how have i managed to find myself in the middle?! i want a new keeper but i want ruddy to be number one - and i'm gonna keep mentioning marcus hahnemann until he's sitting on our bench!!!

no i know. i'd still like him, i think he'd be a good signing who could push ruddy but i'm not going to be losing any sleep over it!

I do agree. I do think he would be a useful addition, I just don't think he fits the Lambert style. Lambert has made the occasional mistake in the past (donny away last year for instance) and has quickly learnt from it and corrected it.

If Ruddy fails to perform (i don't think he will) then rest assured that it will be put right quickly.

I do think that Rudd may well push Ruddy hard this season for the place and I would not be suprised at all if by the end of the season Rudd is no. 1.

If it were me I would start with Ruddy, but give Rudd all the cup games to gain some experience.
