Says Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...jimmy-floyd-hasselbaink-making-rapid-11755823 Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is making rapid progress at QPR and wants Cardiff City to give Paul Trollope time and backing The former Bluebird sees his side top of the table after two games The former Bluebird sees his side top of the table after two games please log in to view this image Hasselbaink thinks getting behind the manager can help the players lift their performances The task facing Paul Trollope at Cardiff City is not dissimilar to that which awaited Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink when he took over at QPR midway through last season. With a Premier League wage bill but mid-table Championship performances, the challenge was to clear the deadwood while keeping the team competitive. It was a slow start for the former Bluebird, who took eight games to secure his first win in the Loftus Road and saw his team finish in a fairly disappointing 12 place. Fast forward a few months, with a full pre-season and a chance to make his mark on the squad, and the difference is eye-catching. The season may only be two games old and it is far too early to make definitive judgements, but he is already changing the perception of a team that was once seen as a group of mercenaries with no cohesion and a laughable work-rate. They were far from spectacular at the Cardiff City Stadium, and there was no hint of the dash of flair that the manager was known for. You'd be surprised if, Tjaron Chery aside, any of his current players have the technical ability to produce anything as spectacular as that memorable left-footed effort against Wolves in the FA Cup at Ninian Park. What they do have is exemplary organisation, midfielders willing to do the dirty work and a fair amount of aggression in their game. Now, the QPR boss has called on his former fans to give their backing to Paul Trollope as he goes in search of his first win against Blackburn Rovers. The 2-0 defeat on Sunday was met with severe disappointment by the fans in the stadium but Hasselbaink believes the players will thrive if the boss is well supported. He said: “That's how fans are nowadays, it's the understanding what the new coach is trying to do, he wants to impose his philosophy on the club and if you support the club you need to give him the support. You need to give him the help. It's not only for the people here it's for the people all over. If you're behind your team in good and bad times it will only help your players. But I can't think for others.” The former Bluebird has also identified a resurgent Steven Caulker as key to the progress of his QPR team. Caulker made a big impression during his season in the Welsh Capital but saw his career decline subsequently. The nadir came as he was signed on loan by Liverpool before being used as an emergency centre-forward in the dying moments of games. He caught the eye with an excellent performance in his former ground on Sunday, however, scoring the opener that shocked a Cardiff side that had been comfortable defensively up until that point. Hasselbaink said: “Steve is part of a defensive unit that works together with him. He's come back this season in right shape, with the right frame of mind, and he's a big member in our squad. He's got the experience and know-how, he's an ex-international. For the players it's nice to see him around the place, but let's not forget we can only be strong when we are working as a team, together in a unit.”
All well and good JFH but we need something to hang our hats on to give us confidence going forward. No goals in 3 competitive games in 9 days and only the merest hint of an effort on target in the 95th minute v. QPR doesn't even give us crumbs. Until Caulker scored we looked pretty organised at the back too but that was about the only positive aspect - and we should look okay there with Marshie and the experience in front of him. It's the rest of our team that is the concern. Now I didn't boo anyone apart from Henry and the full back who impeded Noonie by the corner flag and the inept ref and lino in front of the Ninian on Sunday. However, this is the lowest I feel since we got relegated and I see very little amongst what we have that will make matters improve.
He was poor at Rovers last Thursday night. Kept spooning the ball away into touch when trying to find a teammate with a long ball. A massive difference from the player that won the season award 2 years ago. Would have taken the money if anyone had offered!
A lot has been said about the benefits of continuity at a club but we've not seen any evidence so far. It's virtually the same players who maybe playing a new system under Trollope but it still all looks very stale to me. Early days maybe, but there's a good argument that we should have had a complete change of direction in the team management. A clearout of players who are not up to the mark to take this club out of this division should have followed rather than more of the same under Trollope. I do realise we are stuck with some well paid Klingons in Macheda, Le Fondre and Dikgacoi. He's obviously got his hands tied in the transfer market but from the evidence to date, we are so far off the mark that it would take a sea change in attitude (or a lot of money from Tan) to make this side a top 6 club.
An accident waiting to happen most games. Sometimes he drops a glooper and we get away with it, other times......... He is clearly a talented footballer but can we afford the errors he continues to make? I much prefer Morrison. Yes, he can make errors too but he is much more suited to this division.
I don't disagree with any of that Sparks, Looks like Trolls can do nothing until he offloads the gang of three plus possibly Gunnar and Adyemi. The last 2 would also generate cash for new signings. As for, as you quite rightly say - the Klingons, - if no obvious takers due to their wages then look to loan them out with the club paying 50% for the next 12 months. If they are costing us £40k+ per week if we can save £20k of that then it better than where we are.
I have to agree. It is not the manager. There is something else going on. The whole club just feels off. It's like it's just lurching along with no real direction.
its a ghost ship of a football club>>>>>>>>but that's not only our club lads, football is lacking appeal and for good reason 2 its all about money and very little about the game itself.
I think the best evidence for that is Leicester, after the best premier league win probably of all time the premier league spends 500 million to ensure that never happens again
As sure as eggs is eggs, at some stage football will not be so popular or TV will decide it wants to spend it's money elsewhere or have it's revenues reduced so can't afford to splash out such crazy money. At that point those clubs who have spent and continue to spend such stupid amounts on ridiculously over priced players - no one is worth £300k per week for kicking around a bit of leather - will get their comeuppance. I would love to see Manure, in particular, fall flat on it's blubbery face this season. When the end will happen I don't know but nothing lasts forever and something will cause football's downfall. It could be war, plague, famine, disease who knows but it will happen at some stage. Perhaps I should change my name to something more suitable and doom mongering? One for us more mature guys - what was the name of the guy who would produce a pamphlet each year predicting events that would result in the end of the world? He used to have people selling them on street corners.
Not sure about the doomsday prophecy tbh. I think we're heading towards the first £500k a week player a lot faster than towards footballs demise. Sky's entire business model is built on it. Few people will pay the £70+ subscriptions for anything other than PL football. Therefore they've got to keep it. If Netflix and bt won all the packages in 3 years time (next round of bidding) Sky would go bankrupt the next day IMO. Therefore they're the ones who have to pay whatever it takes to maintain the lions share, therefore the price leaps upwards every 3 years. £30m gets you a decentish PL player because of the new deal. Also wages over £200k a week are becoming common for the top players at the richest clubs, it's mental but it won't change. Ultimately it's supply and demand. As long as everyone keeps subscribing, the cost will rise and rise. The thing is there's little to suggest the price has peaked, the PL has packed stadiums and the BT v Sky bidding war means the price for each of the packs of games they bid on rises too. New packages this time including Friday night PL football, the PL juggernaut rolls on. Where that's leaves the rest of football including the championship is a whole other thread. As is whether football's any way better for it?
Good reply Stevo. I suppose I'm just totally fed up with the Prem and the obscene amounts of money being splashed about in a totally arrogant and brash way. I'm not quite at the Aber stage but getting there slowly.
no doom bfb dude its a fking reality >>>>>>>>a reality football fans somehow can pass off as its a faze of crazy spending its not its gonna get worse>>>>tbh I don't know anyone who pays for sky tv any more so im thinking its the over seas money keeping the big boys afloat.........so somethings gotta give and its either the clubs change morals or the fans get some morals.......and being a football fan for more than 35yrs im in hope the fans see the wrongs in thy game today and take a stand before its 2 late>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>how can we have our nhs on its fking knees, whilst we have football clubs spending like fking cun.ts on some prick that struggles taking fking corners (just an example). stevo why not try android/kodi they give you more games than sky would ever consider showing>>>unless you gave your life 2them of course ........its usually a minute in front of so called live games on sky/bt and all....... ps I would add my lads got a season ticket and enjoys the game for what it is at the moment, so please don't take it personal every body has a choice its just happens mine is 2 stay away from the game
George Orwell: “Films, football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”

I hear celtic are gonna be fined for flying the flag of Palestine in a recent game against an Israeli team..............where does this money go when it gets paid into the football authorities accounts. by the way I didn't see nowt wrong with a protest when it comes 2the subject matter.

I heard it was on course for Mars. Never mind he will score today. Ideally for us. No Duffys. That's the one, Old Moore. The only one I could think of was Nostradamus but think he was bit earlier than pamphlet production.
