We looked at the wages of Bristol City winger Tommy Conway amid speculation over his future. Bristol City: How much money does Tommy Conway earn a week as Celtic and Rangers circle? With the January transfer window open for business, one player attracting significant interest isBristol Citystriker Tommy Conway. Conway came through the Robins' academy, and after spending time out on loan with Yate Town and Bath City, he broke into City's first team at the start of last season. The 21-year-old missed the start of this campaign with a hamstring injury, but he has been in outstanding form since his return in September, scoring eight goals in 22 appearances in all competitions. Having scored the goal to earn his side a replay in the first game at the London Stadium, Conway netted the winner in the 1-0 victory over Premier League side West Ham United at Ashton Gate in the FA Cup on Tuesday night, further raising his profile. It seems that Conway's performances have not gone unnoticed, and according toFootball Insider, Celtic, Rangers, Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all keeping tabs on the Scotland U21 international. The Robins currently sit 14th in the Championship table, but they are just four points from the play-off places, and they will be incredibly reluctant to lose Conway this month, but they could be facing a battle to retain him as his list of suitors increases. As speculation over Conway's future continues to gather pace, we looked at how much he is earning at Ashton Gate. How much money is Tommy Conway earning at Bristol City? According toCapology, Conway currently earns £2,500 per week and £130,000 per year with the Robins, although it should bestressed that this is an estimate. That makes Conway the club's 18th highest-paid player, and he receives significantly less than some of City's biggest earners, including Matty James (£27,500 per week), Nahki Wells (£27,000 per week) and Rob Atkinson, Cameron Pring, Harry Cornick, Jason Knight and Kal Naismith (all £15,000 per week). Conway put pen-to-paper on a contract to keep him at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2025before the start of last season, at which point he was an academy product on the fringes of the first team, so the club could look to tie him down to an extension on improved terms in an attempt to fend off interest from elsewhere. However, given Conway's wages are relatively low compared to many of his team-mates, should one of the Scottish clubs or Premier League sides chasing his signature come in with an offer, it could be tough for the striker to turn down. City head coach Liam Manning has been delighted with Conway's performances since he arrived at the club in November, and he revealed that he is keen to keep hold of him. "Definitely from our end, we really want him to stay,"Manning toldBristol World."He's in a really good place I think. If you look since I've come in, the number of games he’s started, even in a sticky period, we stuck by him. "I think he sees the culture, he's clear on how we work and that's the big thing, we want people who are all in on what we want to do, so he's definitely someone we want to keep at the club." However, after Conway's latest contribution in the cup this week, the Robins may have to brace themselves for bids for one of their prized assets over the coming weeks.
I have said many times that players that make it from ACADEMY or brought in as youngsters to be "improved " should with 1 year and and extra option be signed up if the liklihood is they will be partof the on going plans. we seem to have a plan that starts to get off the ground then implodes!!! Conway has shown by his attitude and ability that he can perform so in the next 3 month's he should be looking to advance his contract and be tied down to season 2026/27 + 1 . he has to be worth at least £1 a week better than Rob Atkinson, Cameron Pring, Harry Cornick, Jason Knight and Kal Naismith. I dont think Nahki is on £27 more like £15 k didnt he resign recently? TC is probably as good as ASe or will be this time next season so should be on circa £7k + Steve Lansdown when he started his business was always encouraging people to go out and do it "sell more" it is the driving influence to do even better ... he took on people off the street and trained them to do a job and encouraged to do better and better to enhance their future incomes! and salesmen were compared to those earning more and money earned was everything! .investing wisely to secure their futures and others !!!!!!!... so WHY NOT THE YOUNGER PLAYERS!
Lansdown may very well know the financial industry better than most and I'm sure his motto is - sell, sell and more sell if you want to get to the very top of the tree. Unfortunately someone needs to tell him the same does not, and will not work in owning a football club and the sooner he learns that vital lesson we will continue to sell as many assets as possible to recoup lost money over many years. When you basically start every season back at square one and then continue on your merry road to nowhere believing that you have enough to get the job done there has to be a time of reckoning which apparently we miss completely as our heads are buried somewhere unspeakable. You may as well have these conversations with a brick wall rather than the people that should matter at the top.
absolutely sure that the powers that be will want to tie him to an improved contract, however by the time his agent bends his ear who knows,no way can i see him going to scotland though,
I think Scotland would be a mistake too wings but agents can be a player's worst nightmare. All the time we continue to sell off our better players then our chances of getting better diminish with each sale. On a day without Afcon Bournemouth would have fielded 3 ex-City players and I see it as a shame that these particular guys didn't end up somewhere more special, however they are playing in the Premier League - so good on them.
its not actually, having been in the "game" for 3 years it is a sell sell sell type industry ... but the licence is very rigid ! Sell = offer an investment that will secure your future, a bit different to sell and be done with! You look after what you sell because it needs fine tuning and often advise!
Agree, they’ve offered him contracts apparently but he’s not signed yet. When he sees his mucker Scott being paid a fortune it’s bound to affect his decision making. He may be a City fan but he’s hardly going to turn down the opportunity if he’s offered a PL contract. I don’t think he’s good enough yet, but why commit until he has too. The next few months are massive for him imo. From the clubs perspective they’ll want his decision by next summer as they won’t want him to run down his contract beyond that. Edit This summer I mean 2024,
