That is a difficult one. Hurricane Fly. If this forum is anything to go by, there will be a much bigger crowd this year at the Champion Hurdle. Everyone loves to see a champion beat the "young pretenders" especially as this year they may not be pretenders. Also, a large section of the Irish contingent will be ecstatic. So, on a scale of 1-5 I reckon a 4 Quevega. Yes it will be a massive achievement ......... but........... it's not one of the more prestigious races and she is fully expected to win again. 2 Big Buck's. Again a champion but this one is returning from an injury and he does have an unbeaten mare to overcome. Again, it's not the most prestigious of races and although there will be an emotional outburst if he pulls it off, there will also be a silent Irish contingent, disappointed that their own potential champion has not delivered. 3 Bobs Worth. Being a smallish battler he is bound to be very popular .............. but...... he is not (yet) a legend and this is not the strongest of Gold Cup fields. So 3 Well I seem to have selected The Fly.
I'd probably say Big Buck's.....im pretty sure that even those that have backed Annie Power wouldnt begrudge a Big Buck's victory. Im sure if BB is coming clear up the hill the cheer will be massive
The Irish horses always get the best reception! Out of those 4 it's quite possible there'll only be one 'near guaranteed' cheer and that's for little miss 6 timer!
Big Bucks, that would be the biggest cheer of the week. I remember the buzz when Imperial Commander ran so well in the Argento, because it was a return of a great, it will be deafening if Big Bucks wins the World Hurdle again. Quevega the least of the four.
