Quite simply the King of biscuits. A real man's biscuit for sure. Anyone remember Montegos with a hint of ginger?
The ginger nuts would be hiding at the bottom of the barrel and would only ever get eaten if shopping day was too far away to re-stock and we were out of any decent alternatives. Anything with chocolate went early, usually gone by the evening of the big shop. Next went anything with jam or cream filling (dodgers, custard creams, bourbons etc) The fruit based biscuit would then be polished off, your garibaldi, fruit shortcake, fig roll etc Then comes the gingernut If they hadn't turned to crumbs the last to go would be the rich tea but by the time these got done they'd be all soft It would be open warfare if mum ever brought home an orange club or mint viscount.
All this thread has established is what we all knew already, that ginger nuts are the lowest of the low and despised by everyone. Only exceptions are the birds on the Fit Ginger Birds fred
