I think PT has managed to fool them Poshies up the road... After the Gills have conceded 7 goals in their last two league games, the manager has set us up nicely. Darren Ferguson's side will be brimming with confidence after their 5-0 battering of Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup 2nd round but this will all play to our advantage, because Peterborough will be over confident and once they take to the hallowed turf at our church Priestfield, the team currently fifth in League One will be quaking in their boots at little ole Gillingham. What's that echo I hear from the back...Britt Assombalonga...who's he? You wait until they see our youngsters Bradley Dack and Jake Hessenthaler, the Posh One's will be getting a shock of all shock's coming their way. We will tease them and give them a head start at halftime by two goals to nil, letting that longa guy score them. Then when we come out in the second half, it will be like a hurricane force wind breezing through them at Dack's pace, while young Jake dominates the midfield. We will let Darren MacAnthony's side keep looking at Scally's team being 17th in League One, but we will pull back to 2-2 then in the dying seconds of injury time with practically the last kick off the day, the Chirstmas celebrations will begin in front of a full house...3-2 Gills and you heard it here first. Don't forget everyone it's only a tenner for this game, so let's raise the roof. Let the party week and banter commence because like the dismantling at their London Road Ground they will be crumbling just like this... please log in to view this image
Not sure how many we will lose by. If the team bottom of the league can put 3 past us, then a team near the top , well !!!! Could be anything
I think the Christmas celebrations have all ready started at your house brb, time to lay off the sauce.
Sorry grumpygit but it appears the Posh are already preparing for their demolition on Saturday and are taking the idea of defeat even worst than I first thought: Moy's End Terrace please log in to view this image
As the Chairman has given permission for the Rainham End to stand up during the game, does that also apply to the Medway stand? I was thinking of trying it during the Posh game. The Chairmans notes from the Stevenage game:- Quote. "the best way to keep the chill at bay is to get on your feet, make plenty of noise and lets get the Rainham End rocking"
So he's going to install safe standing?...lol Sounds good, hope its been COMMUNICATED to the stewards...meooow
We have a good Health & Safety Officer if you should need one brb. Jack can recommend him please log in to view this image
Definite Starters for me on Sat would be Nelson, Harriman, Daniels, Martin, Dack, young Hess, Kedwell. The other 4 would be anyones guess. Would love to see Kedwell given the armband too. Barrett wil be toast agaisnt their front men. Davies & Daniels may not have the physical attributes yet but they do have the pace to get out of trouble
Well what with us playing the Posh on Saturday and them having to stand on our scaffolding, I thought you would be ideal for the role...think of it has a free day out at the expense of our Chairman. After all what else you going to do watch Wycombe...lol
Nelson Harriman, Daniels, Davies, Martin Whelpdale, Hessy, Lee Keds (Captain) Weston Cody We all know that won't happen but hey that's my selection.
Oh dear with our next 3 out of 4 home games being against the top sides i think we will be in the bottom 4 in January. Therefore we must win at home to Walsall plus at least one away before the Wolves game otherwise we could even be bottom.
The start of a tough Christmas period for us,and our last Home Game before Christmas.Peterborough look to be getting back to their usual form after three defeats in a row in November. They beat Wolves 1-0 two weeks ago,and beat Tranmere 5-0 in the Cup last week.We need to play really well to have any chance of getting anything out of the game.Unfortunately I can only see a comfortable Peterborough win.We can welcome back Jack Payne on Saturday, how we could do with him now.
I think Gillingham will line up as follows....................... --------------------------Nelson---------------------------------- Harriman--------Davies-----------------Barrett----------------Martin Lee------------Hollands--------------Hessenthaler------------Weston --------------------------Dack-------------------------------------- -------------------------Kedwell-------------------------------------- Subs: Howard (GK), Daniels, Gregory, Linganzi, Whelpdale, Akinfenwa, McDonald I suggested earlier on Twitter that we might drop Danny Kedwell to the sub bench and start with Cody McDonald as Gillingham have got to play six matches in twenty three days and we will have to rotate the squad at some point, but maybe we will do that for the games over Boxing Day and the 29th of December and stick with Danny Kedwell in the starting eleven because Kedwell has been our player of the season, but I do worry what happens when Kedwell picks up a serious injury. I would like to see Jake Hessenthaler, Callum Davies and Bradley Dack all start tomorrow, Donervon Daniels has shown in the last three games that he is incapable of headering a football and at centre back that is the one thing you must be able to do because you have to expect a aerial bombardment, Leon Legge will win his headers all day long but he has been questioned when it comes to distributing the ball, I think Callum Davies should start, neither Legge or Daniels have cemented that spot in the team and I think Callum deserves his chance, Jake Hessenthaler was composed in possession of the ball last week and he should get a extended run in the first team - none of our senior first team players have really impressed in midfield this season so why not give the youngsters a go instead ??? If we are to get the very best out of Bradley Dack then we have got to play five in midfield and play Dack in the number ten role, Bradley Dack could of scored a hat-trick last week at Notts County because Dack was unlucky to see his two efforts on goal hit the post - the second attempt on goal was actually saved onto the post. Gillingham need to play a back to front type of game, get the ball forward quickly with a direct long ball game, look to create goal-scoring chances from corners, free kicks, long balls and long throw in's and look to get into the Peterborough's faces and deny them time and space on the ball, we don't seem to be doing the latter part of this under Peter Taylor, we cannot give quality players time and space on the ball and we cannot keep standing off teams and inviting pressure on our goal, our midfield back-track so much that they are on top of our defenders, the entire team needs to be ten yards further forward on the pitch and I think we will move further forward if we played a long ball game. Hopefully Gillingham do win tomorrow, but with seven goals conceded in the last two away games and Peterborough thumping Tranmere I just cannot see it happening, although Gillingham being Gillingham we lose to Notts County last week and then go and beat Peterborough United tomorrow, because that is typical Gillingham.
Well that's got my morning off to a good start...Leon Legge favouriting one of my tweets...top stuff and well happy.
Hope it is a good game today lads & lasses & may the best team on the day win Wish I had your confidence in my team .... we are so inconsistent .... we could easily lose to you
