After last week's performance and result against Crewe Alexandra, I am feeling more confidant that we can get a win against MK Dons on Saturday and I really do hope that Gillingham do pick up all three points this weekend (even though I hope Gillingham win in every match we play in).

It really is amazing what one win can do, Gillingham were bottom of League One last week and now we're in 17th position and I am hoping that now we have got our first win under our belts, we can now go on a run of wins and draws and start moving up the table, the players should be feeling more confidant after our win at Crewe and our performance last week was fantastic so I wouldn't make any changes to the starting eleven at all.

Yeah I would keep the same Team as last week, they deserve it.MK Dons will be a lot tougher game than Crewe, and will really test us.I do feel a lot more confident than I did at 3pm last week.I have gone for a draw.

Stats: Martin will play against his brother in his 108th Gills appearance, and Kedwell will make his 100th Gills appearance.

important game, if we can win this one, I feel we can get a decent run going with some winnable games this month.

2-0 up after 13 mins and playing against ten men. Game over you'd think. But no! Incredibly it's 2-2 after 30 mins! What a game!

What an eventful game that was, 2-0 up and 1 man advantage at 15 minutes, also MK Dons had been denied a penalty.
Then 2-2 after 31 minutes and also MK had made 2 changes by then.
Then 3-2 up and then MK Dons had made their third change, then the keeper gets hurt, can't describe that game in words, just an unusual game.

Unusual or not Hoadie the Gills won, it always puts a smile on my face to see the franchise get beaten.

I see ex-Poshie Charlie Lee was awarded another gold star....or was it a yellow card?

Very entertaining game today. I said to my son at kick off that we needed to watch this ref as he had a track record of being card happy, I was thinking more of Charlie Lee, so was pleasantly surprised when it was ex Gills Flanagan that took a very early walk back to the dressing room. Two Keds penalties later and we was strolling within 15 minutes. However, MK Dons were clearly a side full of threat on the counter attack, so in truth it was no further surprise when they deservedly pulled back to 2-2.

We needed to keep up the momentum but the visiting manager had other ideas with two very early substitutions. Although I felt this could possibly be the undoing of the Franchise as the game went on.

Second half saw the Gills up against an opposition injured keeper and with them now having played three subs and with us already having scored within four minutes of the Cody and Weston swap, there was no way back for MKD especially with an injured man but brave player stuck between the sticks.

Three important points on the board in a just about deserved victory, although some caution in my mind that we did not take advantage of what was technically in the fitness stakes against nine men. I just felt if all eleven of the red shirted players were still on the pitch, it could well have been a different result. For once the refereeing decisions worked in our favour.

The gap to the top half of the table is a difficult one and all we can keep doing is repeating the last two games. Six goals in two cannot be knocked but cautious wisdom should be applied. We failed to capitalise up front against a man that could barely walk let alone run, but I suppose that's what happens when its back against the wall time.

I felt the substitution was to early and the wrong choice but hey what do I know when we go and score. Sorry and I know people might not agree, but my opinion has been for sometime there is big question mark hanging in my thoughts over Weston and what he contributes in the role he plays, very evident today.

    MOM Callum Davies.

great result and a great game, we should've tried harder to take advantage of their keeper in the last 15 minutes as it seemed to me that the players did'nt seem to want to score past an injured man, could've done our GD some good today with a bit of ruthlessness. 2 wins on the bounce shows we have got enough to have a decent season

We played well for 15 minutes, it's a shame the game lasts 90 minutes (or 101 minutes today) I am pleased with the win but still think we need to strengthen the team as most weeks we'll be playing against 11 men.
Playing against 10 men we managed 39% possession, we failed to close them down, we failed to use the whole pitch, we managed less shots on target than them.

I also forgot to mention our fitness! how did 10 men finish the game looking so much fresher than our 11 when they worked so much harder.

Gills man of the match Tom Flannigan for his 2 assists.

Grateful for 3 points. Grateful for two penalties ( should have been 4 before half time ) Grateful for the better performances in last two games ( even if frustrated that we didn't score more )
Mostly grateful for not doing what Chesterfield did ( lose 3-4 after being 3-0 up )

It is a really good 3 points . You have got to give credit To MK dons for the way the played but they are a good team who will be up there at the end I the season

After going two goals up I and most other people must have thought we would stroll to a victory .. I should have known better .. But this was. a good 3 points

Special mentions to Hollands , Gregory and kedwell all absolute class but just one point to mention , Weston brings nothing to the team . Anyway a happy Saturday evening and on to Shrewsbury

For any neutral they would have certainly have got their moneys worth today,It was an entertaining game.I thought we started really well at a high tempo, which is what we needed as we did the same at Crewe last week.Cody got brought down on 11 minutes by Flanagan which was a penalty.Kedwell scored the penalty,it was deja vu as two minutes later Flanagan brought down Cody again.Flanagan was sent off,and Kedwell stepped up and scored his second penalty in two minutes. To MK Dons credit they didn`t let the one man disadvantage affect them, and they brought on Alan Smith and Izale McLeod who helped them back in it.The impressive Bamford pulled one back for MK,and 4 minutes later he got the equaliser, from the live play there did look a touch off offside in the build up? Lee did have a good chance to give us the lead when his header went straight at their keeper. It did feel frustrating to go in at half-time at 2-2 as we started really well, but credit to them for not letting it affect them.

In the second half we started well like the first half, and we took the lead when Hollands headed in at the post.MK still looked dangerous and they passed the ball around really well.Their keeper went down with a leg injury, but they had used all of their subs so had to stick with him.He was hobbling, and the frustrating thing was we never tested him at all after.any shot in the corner would have probably have beaten him.

I was relieved when the whistle went, and really pleased we managed to get all three points, but we made it really hard for ourselves and never made the advantage count enough of the sending off,and the injury to their keeper. Two wins in a row now and things are starting to look up for us.

just start by saying the best team lost. Gills again were outplayed by 10 players after being 2 nil up. Nelson again had to make vital saves. If Gills didn't win today after playing against 9 and a half players and leading 2-0 we would really be in trouble.
Well done to Dons manager today who made some massive decisions and tactics and nearly got at least a draw unlike Allen who seems devoid of ideas. Could not believe former Man Utd striker came on and played in defence.
On the plus side, We won. Hollands looks better higher up the pitch rather than defensive midfielder. Kedwell scoring on his 100th match for Gills and Davies making some terrific tackles in the second half.

Funny how people see a game differently.
MK Dons fan on the League 1 forum reckons we were good 2nd half and deserved the win -

"for thirty minutes we looked sharp and Gills looked relegation fodder despite the man advantage. We didn't quite get the third before half time that would have given us something to protect after half time and that proved to be the difference. The old adage about no two halves of football being the same held true and Gills deserved their win in the end. They got tighter to Bamford, strangled the midfield and exploited Smith's desire to throw himself at every loose ball without thinking about where his teammates where."

Anyway, good 3 points against a decent div1 team.
    Onwards and upwards.

Good entertainment yesterday with strong performances from Kedwell and Lee for the second week running and good support from Davies and Harriman. The trouble is it needed a two goal start followed by a one man advantage to give Gills a chance of a win. The truth is the team is being totally outclassed by the opposition (other than Crewe) and are being flattered by the mid table league position.
It is good to take advantage of the good luck while it is there but let us not be misled, this remains relegation form.

bristol407 If you were at the Coventry game you'd have been seriously worried for our L1 future. We were dreadful ( not fantastic as Martin Allen claimed ).
I agree that Crewe were worse than us -- on their current form they will end up 24th.
    However - ( and I don't lavish praise freely ) -
The Crewe game gave us an opportunity to practise some 'proper' football. We took some of this into yesterday's game. You say that we were outclassed by MKD - but we 'forced' them to concede 2 early penalties. We also had good claims for 2 more ( foul on Hollands, and Kedwell being pulled and prevented from a goal scoring opportunity ).
Then there were the goals that should have been scored ( Lee & especially Whelpdale ). I saw a much more positive performance.

I am not entirely certain that playing against 10 is that much of an advantage ! - Teams usually revert to one striker and retain the same number in defence.
I wont excuse poor defending from a set piece for the first goal -but that happens no matter it was 11 v 10. You have to give credit to their players for the second goal - well worked.

What I found frustrating was not leaving 'one up front' when MKD had a corner - yet again we had no outlet - no real wonder that we were defending again so soon, despite the disparity of numbers.

And I think I was as frustrated as all Gills fans that we didn't exploit the weakness of their keeper - that has to be the fault of Allen's tactics - obviously wanting to defend the 3-2 lead.... MA will say that the result justified the tactics - but those tactics were not brilliant in relation to ball retention - and near the end of the game we nearly threw away 2 points ( thankyou Nelson - again )
