KSN state gillingham fc has withdrawn it's proposal to buy the mill hill site, after it was confirmed on wednesday 30th may 2012 that medway council had agreed to the £650 million chatham dock plans & a supermarket being given the go ahead... !

surely now gillingham fc will move from the medway area. some may not agree, but i think it's what the club needs...thats to move from the built up area of gillingham to succeed !!!

    THOUGHTS ???

Cant see any other option now? It will be sad if it happens though! I know Gillingham fans come from all over the county and beyond, but with me I support Gillingham because I was born in Gillingham and the club play in Gillingham! Not sure how I would feel if they played outside of the town!

Mill Hill was a green space in which the club could develop freely (when bought), so I don't really think that a move away from the reasonably low fan base that we already have would help at all. I think the council has been fairly blinkered on this but I cannot say it is unexpected when you consider the relations the club has had with the council recently (policing etc.). All in all the money that the council will make from this Chatham Waters project will come in quicker than the Mill Hill venture but I don't understand why they could not have just prevented the building of a supermarket. The question is, is Scally bluffing when he says he won't go ahead with the development?

Shame that this development could not go ahead, but I am not surprised, never thought it would happen as we don't have luck,
Don't really want us to move out of Medway, but it looks like that will happen, have to see what my thoughts are when we find somewhere, just hope it is not too far away from Gillingham.

I think it shows how much the club was reliant on outside financial support. Without the supemarket backing the club simply cant afford a new stadium as this point in time, and give the size of the fanbase any stand alone ground is likely to be a white elephant like the ill fated Reynolds Sadium

or even a brighton(AMAC's STADIUM) BSG

really could go either way, but knowing scally he will take the easy option...thats why we are where we are, because he's not willing to take a risk or chance !

That is a fair point Oxen, but Brighton were a team on the at the time of the stadium construction and getting a bigger average crowd than we are currently getting. You are right about it going either way but looking at the risk, which could be the death of the club as with Darlington, I would rather the club stay put for the short term at least
