    Hello,

I know I don't post that often but just wanted to say that the Gills have a new fan. My wife gave birth yesterday to William John Green a new recruit to the Gills family. I do mean new as he was 4 weeks early!!! but both are okay and William is already looking forward to his first Gills game.

I just need to drill in to him no matter how much abuse he gets for being a Gills Fan living in Leeds that sometimes it is worth it!!!

I wanted Hessenthaler as a middle name but for some reason my wife wouldn't go for it.

LeedsGill - don't you think that it was a bit selfish of you to make your parents become grandparents ? You have instantly made them old. I hope they buy their grandson a drum set on his birthday. ( Only joking ) However......
You do realise it gets worse from this point - enjoy the middle night feeds. They get more dearer to upkeep and eventually refuse to leave home.

Congratulations.......... just keep him away from Elland Road

    ps - what's your surname ? ........................ sorry ( g4e will give grief for that one )

Congratulations, I have a 5 year old who I have pressured into being a Gills fan and a 6 month old who I will do the same. Give him the freedom ton support who he wants though as you don't want him to hate supporting the Gills (kind of in the way that children hate going to church if they feel it's not their own choice).

All the best for the future

My dad was born in South Elmsall, Yorkshire and he supports Frickley Athletic as they play in South Elmsall! I had no choice but to support Gillingham as I was born in Canada House, Barnsole Road! I cannot think for the life of me of not supporting the club where you were born! Why do people born in Chatham follow Gillingham, Chatham Town have a club, go and watch them! I have a friend from Welwyn Garden City who went with a mate to see the Gills against Rochdale in the 90's and he has been a season ticket holder now for 17 years! I keep telling him he should support Stevenage!

Thanks for the messages, I can't let him be a Leeds United Fan!!! My sister in law is a Leeds Rhino Cheerleader so he can support the Rhinos for his Leeds roots.

As for a new stadium I think he will be driving me to the first game at the new stadium!!!

Good news being this early is that I don't have to start worrying about the start of the new season as the due date should have been the first game.

In my experience the real trouble doesn't start until they start to move of their own volition. When they're just lying there and gurgling at least you know where they are.

Anyhow, congrats of course. Hope the Bradford experience wasn't too much of a contributing factor to the early arrival...!!

Took a sabbatical after the end of the season. To be honest I'm not sure I can contribute a great deal to discsussions about new managers and new players (which is most of the talk in the off season) as my overall knowledge isn't that deep. I know that doesn't stop some people, but... :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Anyhow, now back and beginning to look forward to the new season with the usual mixture of anticipation, trepidation and downright fear of failure. No matches up here till quite well into the season, so I'll probably have to wait for the frost and mud before I'll see this season's version of the Gills unless I can conjure up a trip to my parents on a convenient weekend.

Date for your diary - January 19th. I'll try to organise a welcoming committee.
