Well done the Gills after another brillant away win. If only we were doing better at home we would be at least 6 points clear. We have another winnable match on saturday away to Rovers then the big one first v second at home to Port Vale the following week. Legge looks to be a brillant signing and with Wright hopefully coming back we should go up. We just need the strikers to start hitting the back of the net more frequently. Come on Fleetwood, can they hold Port Vale.
Wow, what an exciting and nail biting start to 2013. Let us hope Fleetwood can hold on to their 0-2 lead against Vale. Certainly helped to throw away a few 2012 festive frustrations, what with losing against Barnet and then Northampton being postponed. Hopefully will feel even better come 5pm tonight.
wow Gills win ,Port Vale losing Chelt losing Rother being held ,Burton losing Bradford being held. Results could not be much better.
Goal difference AND a game in hand. Rotherham are a tad inconsistent.......more so than us at present.
Am I the only one that would have preferred Vale to beat Fleetwood? I personally don't mind too much if we finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd. I want as big a gap as possible to 4th.
I'd rather we stay top. At least we know that if we win, we get to stay there. We have a position of power over the rest of the teams. If we 2nd, we would know that we would have to rely on other teams to beat Vale so we could get back there. And we all know from the past two seasons that we need to concentrate on our own results rather than rest our hopes on other teams.
im with you on that but 3 of the 4/5 chasing teams failed to pick up many points so the have extended the gap> the only thing ill say is the more team between us and 4th the more teams that will sink there before us!
Players would rather be on top of the league as I understand they get extra bonus payments for being there !
My player ratings Nelson -9- magnificent again , that save at the end was amazing . Fish - 8- like all the back four immense and did well to protect nelson . Legge -9- new signing and if he plays like that every week we have got ourselves a great player , cleared everything . Barrett - 9 - again back to best , quality in the air headed every ball clear Martin -9- in my opinion , made a game saving tackle to keep it 1-0 Much better Frampton -7- still feel he is a bit vulnerable but look clean sheet at Southend cant of been to bad Whelpdale -9- got the goal another great performance defensively and going forward Payne -10- amazing how is he on transfer list he played amazingly destroyed most attacks they had Weston -9- best performance unlicky not to score second half he was a great outlet , and a real threat Birchall -8- First league start and did well caused trouble but just lacked a killer edge . Burton -8- can hold the ball up really well and another good performance So on the whole MOM jack Payne Great both going forward and defensively
Crikey henry - don't think I have seen a player awarded 10 (Payne) all season, seriously? - some fantastic passion you have there in those ratings
brb - Yes - Payne was back to his best ( I really don't want to see Montrose again ) henrygills99 - you forgot the 10/10 for the 1184 Gills fans
I think birchall like legg just needs a run in the team as much of the bad play in the final third looked more miscommunication and two players being on different wave lengths than poor play!
