Train booked for Gillingham next month £56 return to Hartlepool. Absolute steal.. Is it better to spend an extra hour in London or travel straight over to Gillingham.

Depends which station your train to Gillingham goes from. It would probably take about an hour to walk from Kings Cross to Victoria or London Bridge and you could take in some of the sights on the way.

It's Going from St Pancras. Train gets Into King's Cross at 10.08 and train to Gillingham is 11.15 but there's no point being in Gillingham at 12pm if there's no where to go

We found last time it was much better to get to London early for a pint in the train station then jump on the train at ST Pancras for a couple through Gillingham

Gillingham is a ****hole lads, your only options that will be there is the pub right outside the station, which personally I'd advise to avoid, because you get too many of our knobheads around there, or the better option for the older folk is micro pub up Canterbury St, it's in a different location so be careful you get the right location. https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/news/towns-first-micropub-moving-to-bigger-home-221112/

Alternatively, Rochester for some of the younger guys which is several stops before (Gillingham) from St Pancras, might be a better location for you, and from the new station you just walk out, cross the main road and into main street with all the pubs, which includes a Wetherspoons. https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/kent/the-golden-lion-rochester

Then get the train from Rochester to Gillingham once you are done with boozing.

Another option, is go the next stop pass Gillingham coast bound to Rainham (Kent!), make sure the train you get actually stops there! There is a Wetherspoons bang outside the station... https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/kent/the-railway-rainham

For anyone that's been to Gillingham before, and use to use the Livingston Arms, which was the away pub, I don't think it's there anymore. I don't venture that end so can't be sure, so you might want to check.

If you want accomodation, pub and taxi rides... there's this place, never stayed there mind... https://www.cookhouseandpub.co.uk/en-gb/locations/gillingham

Any questions ask, if I don't know I will try and find out.

A Gillingham fan tweeted this a few year ago about Sunderland fans in a pub down there when we played them. Not sure if you could go in that pub, if they had plenty beer left this time. :emoticon-0102-bigsm
