    6th April 2013
    3PM- Priestfield Stadium

This could be the game that could see Gillingham seal promotion back to League two so it is important that the fans turn up with one main thing and that is your voice (Ticket is also important to get in) it is time to cheer on the Gills, just like the past few games we need to create a great atmosphere for the team as this does help them play even better so come on cheer on this Gills team all the way to promotion as we hope to hit 82 points by 5pm on Saturday which could see us have the P put next to our name at the top of the league two table.
Now come on lets create a great atmosphere and enjoy this as this is a great time that don't come round often so come on you gills, we are top of the league and we are going up!

This is the Match day thread, this is where you can post your team predictions, chat before the game about the match or anything else, chat during the match and post updates on the match and also chat after the game about the score and write your match report. Also if I am at the match I will write my report after the match giving my view on the players, join in the chat and have fun.

    Team News
Gillingham don't have many doubts, the only one that we don't have any news on is Anton Robinson who we currently have no news on.
Bradley Dack could be back as he did say to me on Twitter that he is hoping that he would return on Saturday, also Andy Frampton will be back after completing his three match ban and also Charlie Lee should have recovered from his bug that has seen him miss the last 2 games.

Torquay will have one main player missing and that is Joss Labadie who they will miss as he was one of the main players, however he has been recalled by Notts County. He has been getting many of their goals so they will miss him in the team.
They could also have their number 1 keeper missing as he was replaced 21 minutes into their 1-3 defeat against Bradford City so Michael Poke likely to be missing this game that means that Martin Rice should step in and take the place of him.

    Past meetings
We have a lot of history of playing Torquay United and our record currently stands at 30 wins, 25 draws and 34 defeats so it would be nice to make that 31 wins so that we can get closer to having a better record against them because as it currently stands Torquay play better against us than we do against them however in the last 5 games we have worked hard to make this record better as it was worse as in our last 5 games we have won 2, drew 2 and only lost 1 which was our last meeting with them.

    23 Oct 2010 Gillingham v Torquay United D 1-1 League Two
    22 Jan 2011 Torquay United v Gillingham D 1-1 League Two
    15 Oct 2011 Torquay United v Gillingham W 2-5 League Two
    25 Feb 2012 Gillingham v Torquay United W 2-0 League Two
    23 Oct 2012 Torquay United v Gillingham L 2-1 League Two

It would be nice to win so that we have not lost 2 games in a row against them and also they would become the first team this season to do the double over us if they were to win against us on Saturday which we will make sure that this doesn't happen.
Our last home game against them was a win and they don't have a great record against us when we are at home, you have to go back to 1999 for the last time they won at Priestfield however that was a cup game, our last 4 games at home stand as 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat playing against Torquay United so I am hoping that we can make that 3 wins in 5.
For our last defeat at home in the league against Torquay United you have to go back to 1992 for the last defeat which was a 0-2 defeat against them.

    Current league table
I think we all know this but I will say where we are anyway if this is news to you then you will be happy.
As of 04.04.13 Gillingham sit top of League 2 after 42 games with 79 points where 3 points could just about send us into League 1, We are 8 points clear of second place Port Vale who are on 71 points however they have only played 41 games.

Torquay have not had a good season as they sit 21st after 42 games with 46 points are not safe at the moment in that position with a lot of other teams around them separated by only a couple of points.

    HOADIE’S View on this match
This should be a brilliant game so hopefully it is another top performance from the Gills, if it is 1-0 to us I don't care, if it is 2-0 it will be a bit better, of it is 3-1 then I will be happy but in one way I don't care what the score is as long as we win, it could be 1-0 or 10-0 but it is a win and that is all that matters, however a bigger win would be nice.
It would be nice if the weather is good on the day as that does help as it does help the atmosphere because where it has been cold at times that does kill the atmosphere so if it was over 7C that would be nice and would help.

    The score line and scorers
I think that the score will be Gillingham 3-1 Torquay with Kedwell, Dack and Whelpdale getting the goals for the Gills and Rene Howe getting 1 back for Torquay.

Here is my prediction of the team for Saturday

    Nelson

    Fish
    Legge
    Barrett
    Martin

    Gregory

    Whelpdale
    Dack
    Allen

    Kedwell
    Birchall

    I am going with this as I don't know if Robinson is out, I hope he is not as that would be a bit of a blow to us, also I am not sure if Dack will come straight back in as there is a chance that it could be a midfield of;
    Gregory

    Whelpdale
    Allen
    Weston

This is very likely if Robinson is out.

GeminiSwiftgfc - if HOADIE goes to the trouble of writing all of that post, the least you can do is to read it ! Although I knew about Labadie before HOADIE mentioned it in his post, I will give him credit for telling the rest of us - try to keep up. <laugh>

I was just reaffirming his points and giving a link to prove they were correct. No excuses, I should have worded it better. HOADIE I apologise If it appears I did not read the whole post.

I think for once Mad Dog may keep the same Starting XI that played Rotherham. Can't see why any of them deserve to be dropped after that performance on Monday.

I think we could rack up a big score tomorrow. A draw is no use to Torquay, so they will have to go for the win. If we can score early, I can see them having a good go at us and leaving themselves open to our superior players. I f we don't score early on,they will probably defend deep and hope for a breakaway, then try to get a goal and defend again.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow's game. The atmosphere is going to be amazing. Hope I will see a win for the Gills and goals from Keds.

Strong performances all round. Dack was a bit out of sorts but not much wrong with the rest. Much more entertaining than most 1-0 s. An awesome performance from Kedwell, full of running, delightful flick ons and lay offs, a constant threat and the goal as well. Constant strong running from Allen junior. Good stuff.
